http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/car-comparison-tests/reviews/a6306/2015-subaru-wrx-vs-sti/ Road and track did a direct dynamic comparison of the 2015 wrx and STi.
I'd ping RS/MAP/DB/etc directly if you're concerned with a baseline for a specific local dyno. Otherwise all the pertinent information is in the link provided.
Whaaa, 250-ish at the wheels for the STi and 225-ish for the WRX...who would have thought? Those numbers have only existed for the past 15 years.
Again, I know what information is out there. DB doesn't have any stock info on a 2015 or 2016 because the ones that have come in have already been modified. I am wondering if anyone Dyno'd their 2015 or 2016 HERE...LOCALLY and what kind of numbers they put down STOCK. I don't give .02c what a magazine says or what information is out there because all Dyno's are different and calibrated differently across the country. Again, I would like to know what people have put down for numbers here locally STOCK on a 2015 or 2016. Thanks.
Pretty sure that @gaitedgirl ran her WRB 2015 STi at the RS dyno day and put down about 255whp on the mustang dynamometer. Nothing has really changed with the 2015 STi that makes it "special". So why would you expect it to make more/less power than it always has? Sorry for the "eye rolling" in my other post. Didn't mean to be an ass.
Presumably a baseline for whatever dyno they intend to use. The relative deltas are going to be about the same no matter where they are. Still think the most efficient way to get that information is just call the shop owners and ask.
Ryan, I am just trying to see what others have put down completely stock. My car is a COBB stage 2, and unfortunately I didn't do a baseline with the factory map to see what mine made completely stock, so I am trying to get an idea of what others have made stock to determine if Cobb's #'s (% gains) are in line. My car dyno'd at DB (225whp, 247wtq) for Stage 2 which I thought seemed low. But they indicated the 2014's they dyno'd were putting down around 190whp/19x'ish wtq stock, they were bummed I hadn't dyno'd it before since they have not had a 2015 or 2016 dyno'd stock yet on their dyno so there was nothing in my year to measure it against as a stock baseline. Also, I have read that the 2015/2016 models are seeing another 10-20whp more than the 2014's. Sorry for any confusion.
WRX? Remember, that's on the "heartbreaker dyno". So numbers will be lower than reported by any magazine or SOA. And i know it's not much of a comparison because of MY's, but my 2002 WRX put down 175/198 stock. About 226/240 stage 2. Which seems like it has been within 5-10hp as long as the WRX has been in the US.
At the time it was a 3" turboback, GM BCS, stage 2 tune by Bullwinkle. Upgraded the stock injectors with modded stockers(800cc) and added a Walboro fuel pump and bumped the HP/TQ up another 15-20 each. (240/256) I think that RS or DB should offer a free dyno to a stock 2015/2016 owner to get a baseline if they are interested in having that info for future customers "upgrading" their performance.
@smoothgangsta I found this from the Dyno day, totally stock 2015 STI: 256WHP - 257WTQ - 2015 - Subaru - STI - Pump - 15.5PSI - Stock - 2.5L - Stock - gaitedgirl
Thanks, I'll have to get some runs in at RS to see what it makes beyond those baseline numbers that she had.
If someone has a 2015 completely stock they would be willing to drive up and dyno on DB's heartbreaker I will pay the dyno cost for 3 runs, just so I can get a baseline idea to see if indeed my numbers are low for a COBB Stage 2 before I start dumping money into their COBB Stage 3 Flex Fuel kit, any takers...? Message me if so.
If you don't get any bites you may want to start a new thread with something like "Free baseline dyno runs at DB for stock 2015 STi". That will definitely get some visibility. We won't close it as a duplicate.
