I may be interested in a couple of labs. Are the convicts the ones that are almost black/grey and white with the verticle stripes? I gave a couple of my larger Kenyi's to Petco b/c they were huge and too aggressive with the others. You should have seen the way everything changed when the two big ones were removed. Everyone came out of hiding and it looks like I actually have fish in the tank now. lol
they don't useally take them because they also wanted to get rip of them, at least you have a certain type of cichlids...I assume u got the african type of cichlids....I'm looking for a albino convicts med size, if u have them, hollow ya boy
The convicts I have are like described, Black and grey with verticle stripes, I want to get rid of them. I tryed to put them in with my other africans and the two convicts were dead the next morning. oh well. I have 5 or 6 of them.
make sure the pleco's are big enough, if not your cichilds will beat the crap out of it...I've seen a pleco get man handled in a cichlid tank. If the red oscar is big enough it may devour the smaller cichlids...lol hard to find a win, win situation...
yeah I have a pleco in my 55 its a little bigger than my cichlids, they have pretty much left him alone. I also have 2 Synodontis in there as well. I want a pleco for my 30 gal south american tank.
My pleco is like 7-8 inches, nobody messes with him! Other than that, I have a small 3-4 inch bristlenose also, but he hides out inside the driftwood most of the times. Dave, I may be interested in taking a couple of fish off of your hands. I love the color of the labs, all of mine have died over the past year. They were pretty old.
7-8 in. pleco is a decent size...I'm sure that no one is gonna mess with them...it is when they are half that size...especially the high-fin plecos their fins get all chewed up
I think I have to down size or use my 75G tank again...my dream of 210 is looking to be just that "a dream for now" I don't think my floors are gonna hold and I can't brace it because my basement is finished...Don't care to teardown walls just to brace it...Imight end up with 150 gal...or less we will see...
I believe ya! This one came from my buddys 135 gallon. He got pretty big before I got him. Cichlids like to kick ass! Sounds like you should set up the 210gal downstairs!
can't...no room...*pool table* which I hardly use...Also I don't spend any time in the basement...I'm always at the livingroom upstairs...
I have a tank I need to sell or get some new fish...I used to have some gold fish, all different kinds but my fav one got picked on and they finally killed him..I named them all after rappers. puffy, had puff checks and he was the one that died and I believe they ate him cause he disappeared. I also used to have zebras, tetras, and some small frogs.
My south american I meant my fish. I have some firemoth, and a green something(cant remember at this minute), a synodontis and a pictus one line, and a raphiel cat. Had more but they died. That pleco might be to big for my 30 gal. Let me know on the labs, thats what I have the most of and more on thier way Dave
humm maybe i should get back into fish...i have all the supplies. not sure how bug my tank is i think its 20g.
my pleco is properly around 7 to 8". The red oscar about the 6" or 7" shy. Most oscars getting along with the african cichlids. I recently separate the red oscar from the tiger oscars transfer into the african tank. Since the tiger won the territory on my 55 gal tank, they became the domenant. I also have a full grown 6" convict as well along on my 55 gal tank. The convicts are very aggressive towards to semi aggressive, I'm very surprice that your convict died on your african tank.
First pic; 46 gal african Second pic; 55 gal S. American Third pic; King of 55 gal Fourth and fifth; Pleco's
plus this fish aka managuense also call the jaguar is fighting over the oscars. I got the whole ultimate fish fighters.....
yeah, salt water is cool and all but its just too much work! for me anyways. i'm just trying to get rid of my set up. hopefully i can get a lil money back from it.
Salt water is nice and there are some CRAZY looking fish you can get! It would be nice to get a slat water tank, but I barely have time to keep up on my tanks now. Ill try to get a few pics of my 3 tanks soon.
^ yea thats what keeps me from starting..any kind of tank is a lot of work keeping it up..i think i will just sell it...
Once it is setup and stable...its a breeze I know I should do water changes every month, but I've last without one 6 months at a time...and all my test monitoring was @ the normal/safe. Can't rush trying to put stuff in it until its stable...usually 4-6 weeks after the tank is setup. Then you add very slowly, very slow...Usually they 1 fish per gal for fresh...but Salt is roughly around 1 per 5 gal. but I play it a bit safer 1 per 10 gal. Also you can't have enough *Live Rock* people don't realize that it is one of the best filtration for aquarium...
You're right about that. If you want to get 'technical' about it, a lot of people follow that rule. A little less stringent rule though is one fish per 5 gallons of water. Unless of course you are talking about specific fish, some even have their own special requirements. Tangs or Surgeonfish (depending on which you like) require a minimum of at least 50 gallons per fish (for most varieties within the genus).
whether it is an inch or a mile...fish is fish...lol jk u make the call...again it's just a rule of thumb...I have my own...when I say 1 fish per gal for freshwater, usually means at a certain size (1.5-2 in.)..not like 24 in. arrowana in a gal of water...
I really think it depends on what kind of fish we're talking about here. A wrasse or a tang will swim around quite a lot more and need more space than a goby. Some fish need more rocks, some more open water, some more sand. It really depends.
I think kelly is more like a "moray eel" with a rice bowl hair cut (R.I.P.) Langky and corky I'm a "Procupine Puffer" I'm very round..lol
I hate morays, can't I be a jawfish or something? tall and thin with a big mouth? They still are my all time favorites
I posted earlier about Ocean Devotion in Burnsville, MN. Apparently on December 8, there will be a TCMAS event there. I was there last night talking to the owner and the manager about it. They are stocking up on hard goods, food and obviously fish and corals. There is going to be some food and some other 'goings on' as well. Any of you that are curious, this would be a good time to show up. It might also be a good time to get some things as well. There are usually a few people that show up with coral frags..
