Hey All, this is a 2012 subaru wrx, I'm wondering if you guys know what this sensor/plug is called and I'm assuming its leaking oil. Do you guys have any information on what it is and why it could be leaking? Any information is greatly appreciated. car.jpg Thanks! View attachment 25122

I'm gonna guess it's coming from the oil pressure sender which is usually around that area (at least on the Subaru motors I've worked on). You can usually get right at it once the alternator is off.

Again, this is just my guess.

What you've circled, is a casting in the block.

Just above that, and to the right is the crank angle sensor. There's no oil in there.

Behind that, under the alternator, is the oil pressure switch. Notorious for leaking. You can get aftermarket ones for about $8 which have about a 50% chance of leaking. Or the OE one has MSRP of $22.75 (25240ka041)
