Just wondering if anyone local has had a chance to either test this turbo or is currently running it? It has really peaked my interest and wouldn't mind a chance to take a ride in a car that is using one, or get some feedback from someone who has at least tested it out/tuned for it. Thanks!

Pretty nice turbo for the money. Ran it on an sti with a perrin fmic and dw850cc injectors.

Stock spool and holds power up top. Power plateaus around 6k but holds till redline. Running 24ish psi peak and 19psi at redline.

On a cool day it made 370whp/390wtq peak and on a hot day it made 335whp/370wtq peak on airboy's road dyno. Area under curve is HUGE! Hopefully Nuke or Bullwinkle will chime in with their impressions and how it compares to various 18g/20g setups they've tuned.

I'd definitely recoomend it to anyone considering a 16/18/small 20g on a 2.5L. Mine will likely go on Carl's rally car or the gf's lgt next.

Here's a graph from a cool, dry day. expect a similar curve with lower peak numbers on hot days:

It's a damn good turbo for it's price and performance IMO.

Wow, that seems high. Most of the research I have done suggests its good for at most 350hp, but its going to average on most dyno's right around 300-320ish whp. I am not to familiar with Airboy's road dyno....does it tend to read high or?

No phone service till next week. pm me.

Like any dyno number, take the peak numbers with a grain of salt.

Look at the area under the curve. I think Bullwinkle has an overlay with my stage 2 tune (same mods except hta68, 850 injectors, and silicon turbo inlet). That tells a much better story. Also, boost vs rpm logging is pretty hilarious. This turbo likes to make a ton of boost really fast... holds it very well too. I'm sure once tuners get more aggressive with boost settings with this turbo (especially with a 2.5L), we'll start to see more and more impressive results.

Yeah, those number Sheen posted are quite high (sounds like that run was done on a fairly cold and dry day). Most of the runs put down around 325-330 WHP, which is exactly what I would expect. That road dyno puts down numbers close to a Mustang dyno.

I'd say the HTA68 is a great "powerband" turbo for the 2.5L. It's been shown to be a bit laggy on the 2.0L cars (compared to a regular or evo 3 16g). On the 2.5L, I'd say spool is about the same (or better!) then the VF39, and power is between a large 18g and 20g turbo.

Pretty good bang for your buck, as long as you're not focused on "big HP." Anytime you can increase topend HP by ~40-50 WHP and not lose any low end spool is impressive.

Bullwinkle, is there any way you can throw your 18g tune over the HTA68 tune for comparison?

that is pretty reasonable compared to the other turbos they offer. still a good chunk of cash.

Bolt-on turbos fetch a premium. If you can do a little welding, Borg turbos are a cheap alternative.
