I don't get your point... well, I get the point you're trying to make, it just doesn't fit here.

OSX is just as big of a convoluted complex pile of junk as Vista. The only difference is the availability of 3rd party complex piles of junk poorly written to fit in with the OS (ie software).

Now that x86 is universal, it'll only be a matter of time before everyone has access to complex piles of junk in any flavor they want

My intention was to share the news with people who have iPhones here and see what they think about it. So far k have not heard a single good thing about this from anyone here. I am not apple fanboy by any means. I like apple products and I think their marketing is working well. iPhone is by far the best hand held device I have owned. It does everything I want it to do. It has not broke since I owned it. And I actully wish it did, cause I can go and get a brand new for free. Its the best mobile web browsing device I know of. The design is great and built quality is great. I am talking from experence I owned lots of PDA phones, nokia, palm, htc and others and all of them were crap that broke all the time. The worst was windows mobile htc phone. Windows mobile needs a very powerful CPU to be able to run and that thing was a dog. I had three of those phone cause they kept breaking.

My last 3 phones were HTC's with Windows Mobile, and my next handset will be the Tilt. They have been great for me with no issues. PEBCAK.

I can tell you I am pretty good with computers. I work for hamline helpdesk and deal with both software and hardware problems all the time. Iphone beats the htc by a mile. Multi touch is great much better that buttons. And I had a ton of third party software on my htc that was pretty cool but the fact the you had to use like 10 buttons to go to any many and you had to use stylus sucked.

    Any many miny mo!

I won't get into an e-penif pissing match, but you're not in the majority on the touchscreen. Most people find it clunky and impossible to navigate without concentrating on the screen (which scares me even more, considering you've fessed up to forum browsing behind the wheel :eek4:).

I've been more into HTC's Smartphones, rather than the PocketPC variety. No stylus. Just a phone, and the ability to use wonderful 3rd party applications (Google Maps isn't only for the iPhone BTW). TomTom nav, paired with a bluetooth GPS. Using my phone as a bluetooth EDGE modem anywhere I go. Those are a few things I don't think have found their way into the iPhone yet.

Still, no 3G. I just don't understand what they were smoking there. Making a device that's as "internet-capable" as any, and only equipping it with EDGE hardware was the worst mistake they could have made.

Yeah, I figured that stat was pulled out of "somewhere". RIM has an insane amount of handhelds out there. Add the fact that the iPhone has barely been released for any amount of time anywhere but the US, and there's no way they have that kind of market share.

I'm amazed that they even have a 6.5% share now.

I have long fingers so no problem typing here. And there is nothing better than the iPhone to browse the internet. But I see what you mean. I think apple took a very smart position on the way they are sellling the iPhone. I am sure they have 3g down already have an iPhone with at least 32gigs. They know that people will buy it even without all of it now. They will realese it later.

no 3g, no iphone for me.

I'm not sure I want to sign up for att for 2 years either.

I'm going to wait and see how the unlocking goes for the 3g iphones... that means I'll be waiting for a while.

Why 3G is such a big thing? I am fine with GPRS. Google maps works great over GPRS with pretty much no lag. Emails without attachments are set instantaneously and webpages with out too many pics open up very quick. Iphone has wifi and wireless is pretty much everywhere now.

And yes Iphone has a 28% market share of smartphones in only 8 month

Went to a cell phone store yesterday and saw some sick nokia phones. Some are just awesome. N95 is freaking sweet. Its got 8 gigs and an extandable hot sync sd card. Web browsing is pretty good on it too, it has a little arrow on the screen that is like a mouse and its east to use. What sucks is that its one and a half grand.
