oh hi! Aaron was at the last event. He has a 5dr turbo model, I think he did 260whp/290lb-ft at the last Saab dyno day. My car is a $600 beater that I bought specifically for rallyx and running to Home Depot. Although, if I had just kept my damn 9-2x (which is why I was/am a member on here), I could have just had a double duty daily/rally/fun car. Instead I opted for a FWDLOL car.
I thought he was just running Nokian RSI snow tires. But I could be wrong. This was the first event I ran on rally tires...it was worth the cost. It's a bummer, it would be a ridiculous price to find 15's that would clear your calipers, I am sure the STI would benefit greatly with even more traction. Although...these aren't priced too badly: http://www.rallispec.com/prod_chart_esgr.htm
Denny is the guy who owns the red bugeye wagon, and the wheels he had on are Raceline RL-7 15" rally wheels with Pirelli gravel tires. Three of the tires were run by Mark Utecht on his Group N WRX, the fourth comes from CPD racing's collection of used tires. I owned the wheels, used them for 00 at Shooting Stay last year, then ScandiaWRX borrowed them for OFR and LSPR (and returned them with the CPD tire replacing the one she killed). I sold the wheels and tires to Denny when I sold my WRX.
Wow carl! Driving a little more aggressive now are we? Look out Mark and Jim, there's a new rally driver in town!:naughty: Nice pics Russ! Looked to be a near perfect day out there and track conditions look like they were great! Glad to see more Subarus out there this go round...should have been one more...lol.
I already sent it off to him. Vector sent me his e-mail last night. Amy's fuel door was funny. Like the 3rd time I went though the pics, I noticed something sticking off of the side of her car. So I went back through them again and every left turn, the door is open, and every right turn it was closed. Never even noticed as I watched the car all day, didn't even notice the first 2 times going though the pictures. Special thanks goes out to LOL for putting this together. Even though I didn't drive, I still had a blast. Snapping off 800 pictures of dirt, mud, chucks of sod, and random body panels flying though the air is just as fun. Russ
the next one isn't until the end of june, right? seems a little premature  besides, I have no smack to talk. my goal is just to try and keep up with joel
You did keep up, you were only one place behind me in the overall results. And if your earlier runs were the same speed as your last few runs, you woulda easily beat me I think.
any one with pics can you pm them to me when you post them up? or just pm me that you posted new pics i am doing a comp apps project
which doesn't work very well on ice  so I'm pretty slow at the ice races and kind of quick at rallyx
Looks like I'm going to have to either add a velcro tab to the inside of my gas door or tape it shut next time. Doesn't make a very good air brake, being asymmetrical and all. I totally love my new cage and racing seat (Thanks bunches to Mayhem, Vector, Rally Wife, Stick and Breon for helping me create and install it all !) A stiff car and driving while being stuck to the car with 5 pt harness makes a huge difference. The turbo Legacy is a great Rally Cross car. With such a small turbo there is pretty much no lag, lots of low end torque and very tossable. Gonna have to start doing more Yoga for entry and exit into the car though, especially once the seat no longer has slides. I think I broke top 5 overall this time, only getting beat by dedicated race cars that came on trailers (I could be mistaken). Either way, my absolute best finish ever. I'm eager to see the times when they get posted up. I am thinking I better learn how to get my DMS 40s lubed up and put them on the Legacy. O.k. Smack talk... Maybe I need to be inviting Jay and Jim to continue to run in M4. They'll have to push so hard to beat each other they'll be squashing cones L and R. Then I can ran clean and slide on buy. Having Jay and Jim around to push sure makes the cones fly for the top runner. Amy
I've got the stealth, under achiever paint job going on for now, so I'm flying under the radar Got plans for a McRae Legacy replica paint job down the road but time and money is going in mechanicals and safety for now. Amy
Sorry, I meant should we have the smack talk at all. I'm not saying start it now. That said, when it starts, look out. Mark
How very true. Last event I had the Corbeau seat in the Sentra, but not the 5-points, nor the harness bar. That one simple stupid bar bolted in the back really made a difference in how the car behaved when the cornering loads got high. I can't wait for the full cage now. I was really surprised at the end to find out I'd climbed out of the hole I'd dug at the start of the day to take top 2WD honors. I wish Flatline and Stick had made it out there too, so we'd have had even more M2 competition.
What kind of stupid question is that? Of course we should have smack talk. There should always be smack talk. I wish my wife would get into this too. She's the biggest trash talker I ever met when she gets into something.
Took till my last run group to figure out I need to carry alot more speed into corners to get the car rotating. Bonus, I ran faster times and got through corners quicker. Amy
Oh, I though you meant you wanted to start now.... I don't think we'll have any trouble with that. Amy
Great pics everybody! Just wanted to mention that i didn't hit a single cone! (trash talkin!) Not bad for noob! Thanks to the timers for "messing up" and giving me a couple extra runs! Can't wait til the next one. Definitely gonna have to get some winter/mud tires. I'd have moved up a couple places with them. (more trash talkin!) I was the only person in prepared (or modified) without some better rubber than the stock RE92s (??). Thanks again everybody!
you have to drive fast to hit cones :eek3: and I still don't believe your car was ever even on. subarus are supposed to make noise while operating
Yeah, I didn't hit any cones either, but I sure scared some of them this time. Maybe I need to force myself to hit a cone to get over the fear of it. Anyway, remember, timers don't mess up, it's always a photographer getting in the way, that was the only possible explanation they gave for a rerun. I think maybe with your car though, they just didn't hear anything and didn't realize you were moving already. But yeah, reruns are great, more driving.
One of the really funny things about that site is that the mud that gets flug comes from the sidewall, not the tread of tires. So you can pick up chunks and identify the tire it came off of. One of the pieces we looked at was very clearly an RE92 sidewall pattern.
i noticed that too (not specifically the re92 sidewall) but all the big chunks I found had sidewall info molded into them
I was running Kumho Ecsta AST's. Not exactly prime rally tires. If I remember correctly I took 4th in PA and 12th over all. Not to shabby for my first time out in my opinion. A little more seat time and Mark might have to watch out:laugh:
Ok, here it is. All 755 pics. Just a dump from the camera since I just don't have the time to weed though them right now. http://subiewrx.smugmug.com/gallery/4817904_udcCP#286684934_LBkPs Russ
