I will add to that something that Mayhem told me when I asked how to get better times. If you really want to learn, beg him to drive you car and you ride along for a fun run. I did and learned I am using way too much "Stop" foot and partial throttle. Amy
The correct terms are Goey (Go-e) foot and Stoppy (Stop-e) foot. You will never be truly fast without using the proper terms. More goey foot, less stoppy foot. Here endeth lesson two. Lesson three includes Shifty foot, neighbor to Stoppy foot and best friends with Goey foot. Cars with automatics are bigots. They are always keeping shifty foot away from the fun.
Ah, but Shifty foot is also sometimes Stoppy foot. More easily accomplished with knees smooshed together by racing seat and a tall first first gear in Leggy so Shifty foot is bored doing nothing anyway. Amy
But when Goey foot and Shifty foot get together too much, they upset Misters Clutch and Transmission. Mr. Clutch was mad at me on Sunday, but seems to have calmed down and gotten over it now.
Looks like I missed out on a very entertaining event. I had just gotten back to the Twincities at 5am on Sunday from Seattle, WA. We as I slowly get my track car situated perhaps I will be able to join you guys next time and co-drive or something. Fun Fun Fun!
To use Goey foot alot without Shifty foot, you must visit Dr. Doggy Boxx first. He is the expert in lessening the strain on Shifty foot. However, Mr. Transmission needs to go and see Dr. Doggy Boxx very often after the surgery on Shifty foot. Mark Utecht
If you were going faster, Shifty foot wouldn't be so bored. Next lesson for Amy will be proper launch on grippy dirt. In a nutshell, lots of rpm+little clutch slip=slight wheelspin=great launch. Jay and I were dumping the clutch at about 5K rpm. That's the fast way.
I had all sorts of trouble launching on Sunday. Every time I tried I was living in bog town. 4500rpms + not enough clutch slip/wheelspin= Terrible launch
Here is a video my wife shot. http://youtube.com/watch?v=t8-gg6-6RZI Great pics Russ. Now I have to figure out what my new wallpaper will be.
So then, Mr. Transmission has already seen Mr. Doggy Boxx, or Mr. Transmission will be seeing Mr. Doggy Boxx soon. Russ
No, we have not seen Dr. Doggy Boxx. I was suggesting that for those that have trouble with Shifty foot and Stoppy foot, one solution is an appointment with the Dr. I had surgery from Dr. Boxx on my Suby rally car. I loved his work but found the initial price and all the follow up visits too expensive. Jay and I are happy to play with the Dr's. little brother, Stock Boxx. Mark
I tried a more aggressive launch on my last run with good results, except for all the smooshed cones However, I am a bit nervous of making Mr. Clutch mad at me with more aggressive play time with Shifty foot. I don't want Mr. Clutch to refuse to take me home at the end of the day. If I go faster, letting Shifty foot play more, I need more practice making Goey foot also do Stoppy foot job at the same time. No plans on visiting Dr. Doggy Boxx anytime in the future, he makes cool noises though. Amy
thankfully i have mr. 6spdy boxx. but mr. clutchy in mr. 6spdy was getting a bit odiferous after running at the top of first pretty much the whole day. toward the end I started running in second which was ok because by then i had gotten fast enough to carry the appropriate speed to stay in the powerband
So if you go back and look at all the posts since 95, you would think that we are all sniffing glue or gas fumes or something. Russ
....this! Mr. gluey gets me buzzy. Lol. And carl, I can relate! The "Thin Ice" event I was in first gear between 6-7k the whole way around the track! Hahaha.
Brought it home today!:woot: What I thought was the tranny, was merely a fouled injector. remedy=STi pinks and a new Wal.255.:yumyum: i needz re-t00nz!
True but Nemadji Trail Stage Rally is a week from Saturday on May 10th. Volunteer for it and you will get even more excited about the next RallyCross Amy
I need time anyways...everything is still pretty new. I haves: Sti pink injectorz Wal.255 fuel pump New plugs New fuel filter Sti springs New gaskutz New tranny ...there is moar, just can't think...running on 2 hours of sleep. I'll get everything all broke in before the next rallyx! And by that i mean "broke in", not "broken"...me hopes.
Actually, you DID hit a cone! I picked it up and called it in, it was in the corner after the slalom. That moment made my day.... I'm interested in getting an exhaust for my car but yep, no one can tell when my car is even running. Sleeper!
