I am attempting the 3.3 swap, and its All swapped and plumbed, exceptions for the wiring, which I expected to be the least difficult part of the swap. Well, its turned out to be the most difficult part, for me anyways.

I have almost given up, a couple times now. However, I will be short a vehicle in the near future and would like to take another stab at it...

Car: 1998 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS, Manual Five Speed

Modifications: EG33 Engine from '91.5 Subaru SVX

Problem Description: I am having trouble getting the SVX ECU and Harness wiring straight. Engine turns, but does not start. Fuel pump not turning on, or priming. Engine will sputter and try to start with starting fluid added. I know there is a specific order in which the key is put into the ignition switch, which gives signal to a relay, which gives power to the ecu, which gives signal to the fuel pump Et. Al. but I dont know if I have it wired correctly in that order. I am also told of a shutoff sequence as well, which is supposed to put sensors and etc back to where it should be for the next startup?...

I have read many different informative threads here and there regarding the wiring portion of the swap, but no luck for me.

I know there are a few folks on here that have done the swap successfully, and I am looking to pick all your brains about it. Anyone willing to lend a hand? I can trade beer, money, detailing?

You do not mention the ECU. Did you swap in the SVX ECU? The SVX uses the coil on plug (COP) system. Your 96 only fires twice using the waste spark system, this means it fires on every stroke to burn unspent gasses on the exhaust stroke too. You will need the ecu and igniter from the SVX. Then you will need to run the extra wires from the coil packs back to the ecu. I went through some similar issues putting a JDM turbo WRX engine into 92 N/A legacy. The wiring will break your spirit very fast.

Yep, I indeed have the igniter, harness, and ECU from matching svx motor. Each coil runs back to the ecu.

Wondering now, whether or not I will need the fuel pump modulator from the svx? I didnt know there was one at the time I pulled the harness. Does my 98 RS have a fuel pump modulator?

Can't say about the modulator. When we did ours, the engine turned and sputtered. Turned out the crank and cam sensor wires were backwards. Other than that I'm not much help.
