In fear of making the joke unfunny, I'll go ahead and spell it out. <sarcasm>Texans would greatly appreciate if I took an American Flag, and painted took the blue background of the stars and made it green, and also superimposed that little coat of arms or whatever it is on Mexico's flag somewhere on the US flag with the green background for the stars.</sarcasm> Texans would hate it because it would be a desecration of the US flag by coloring and decorating it like a Mexican flag, you know, because they are so patriotic or whatever. I'm just playing to stereotypes and sensationalism right now with it. That is what makes it so 'OMG NEW AGE ART!' because of the 'controversy'.... also known in the internet as flame baiting and trolling. Try to keep up, because this is the last time I'm going to explain a joke.
I'm not too good at jokes having to do with countries and their patriotism. I'm definitely keeping up with this thread, but if there's another joke having to do with Mexico that I don't get, I'm going to ask.
I don't think he would get the reaction he's expecting considering that 1/2 or more of the people living in texas are either directly from mexico or descendants.
Sigh. Could you at least read up on the thread before you jump in? It's already been outed. The dog is fine. This was a human experiment, not an animal cruelty exercise. Eli, I roofled at your edit.
Nevermind..... failed to read whole thread before I posted. I was going to comment on the "artists are idiots" title though... -Steve
There are so many things that I want to say right now, but I have decided it best not to argue. Because, simply put, arguing on the internet futile at best. If I offended you, then I apologize, I certainly did not mean to provoke such outrage (as well as some clearly hypocritical remarks, which I will refrain from addressing). Simply put, I was trying to say, you should closely examine the facts before you jump on a bandwagon. The title of the exhibit "Eres lo que lees" or You are what you read, made it fairly clear to me immediately that something was awry. So before proclaiming that I wished to dedicate my life to torturing people, I did a little research. I certainly am on no pedestal however, and never claimed to be better than anyone. Perhaps I was a little bold in the manner in which I presented myself, but I certainly don't look down on anyone. Now that I have addressed those issues, instead of quibbling over something which obviously doesn't matter, I propose a new idea. This incident has obviously provoked some strong emotions in all of us. It is also clear to me that most of the people who have taken the time to post in this thread have passion, in one way or another, for those who are at a disadvantage (whether they be a helpless dog, or a helpless person). Why not host an MNSubaru Community Service Day? We certainly have the manpower to do something good for the community we live in. Even if it costs a little money, I am certain we can all afford it (otherwise we wouldn't buy $30k cars and then spend thousands of dollars more in order to modify them). I think a day where members can go to the Humane Society and help out, or perhaps a senior living center, or even just cleaning up a random park, would be fantastic. If we all feel so strongly about issues like this, than we should be proactive as opposed to reactive, and go out there and try to contribute to making our world a better place to live, one small piece at a time. Edit: Two quick things I wanted to add. 1. I NEVER called anyone greedy, that is some sort of an extrapolation. 2. You said that killing this dog would provoke outrage from a compassionate populous. The whole idea of this, was that this same compassionate populous didn't care about the condition of these dogs until one was put on display for them to see. The whole point of the exhibit. (I really don't want to discuss these issues any further however, as I am fairly confident they will only lead to further unnecessary internet drama.
I actually think that is a pretty awesome idea. How cool what it be to have a little sign on the side of a highway that says "This highway was adopted by MNSubaru"
