But they will continue to harbor their ignorant resentment of the military that protects them and their ability to persue life liberty and happiness...be that in the form of free expression, free speech or making big money.

I am pretty sure all of these people dont hate solders as people or really what they do. Like i said before Army is a great thing and is needed on domestic soil. Its the rulers and general are the ones who are hated for their decisions.

1.) Yes, I am, and after living there for 7 years I saw both sides of the spectrum. I was in the Navy, so I had the military aspect, and I lived near SDSU, so I got to hear all the ignorant BS about the military.
2.) That was me generalizing, for the most part, most of the ignorant kids that say the stupid things about the military are either liberal arts majors or philosophy students.

Great education in what? Many students go to college just to go. Many girls go to school to find a husband.

"Ahhh yaaaa. I'm like, a psychology major, cause like, I find that soooooo interesting! And like, my tour guide was soooooo cute, and he said that's what he did, so I was like, me tooo! Yay kappa psi sigma epsilon delta. My girls are like the greatest!!!!!"

And see, there are people like you that prove me wrong on that aspect. You seem to have a grasp of how things work. Alot of students leave school not knowing a damn thing about how the US Government works or the first thing about the history of how we got here and how our past shaped our future.

Great generalization there, A+ for that. If you have been on campus and have taken serious classes like Political Science, History, Economics, Psychology for that matter, you would know that its not all like that. People go to college and pay 30+ grand a year to get EDUCATION which is a key to success for the most part. And by the way if you are trying to say that my psychology major worth squat, who is helping all the vets that come from Iraq and Afghanistan to get back to their civilian life? Yes thats right, psychologists. And btw, i have a double major in International Management.

And the last person I'd want to see is you if I had PTSD or needed counseling after military service. Since you seem to feel that military members fight for nothing. Nothing gives an injured, stressed soldier a feeling of accomplishment and pride than being told their service was unnecessary, and that they fought for nothing. BTW, I'm going off your statement on page one of this thread where Brian Shorten said something about military members fighting for you, and you said 'fighting for what?' or something to that effect.

Umm, I've been a student for six years so I know what being on campus is like. I'm not saying a psychology is worth squat, but its only good for the motivated, and really for those that go to grad school. I'm not trying to take anything away from the true psychology majors, but there are many that just default to it for lack of anything better to take. Maybe its just that way at a larger university.

And if you want to talk about serious classes, try my dynamics, mechanics of materials, engineering analysis, calc 4, etc. They will show you what time it is. Every general education class I take is an A without even doing anything. I often regret buying the book. Ever spend 20hrs on the homework in a week for one class?

Introduction classes are all the same and are plain and easy, but usually interesting. You will get to college and see how even 2000 level courses are different.

Its all about how serious you take your studies. And we are talking about different topics here. I am talking Humanities you are Talking Science. Two very different things. Science is always more time consuming and more precise.

Berkley actually did have a legitamate case against the Marines -- and then a handful of morons spun it into the beast it is now.

Originally, Berkley told the Marines they wanted them out because they weren't compliant with their city anti-descrimination laws.

Nope, not at all. I've read your posts, you are definately stupid. And I don't need internet speak to tell you that. You can graduate HS your sophomore year for all I care, it doesn't make you smart at all. You have an ignorant and closed-minded view of the world and the little microcosm of HS life you consider to be the world. Your hate and ignorance negate any education you might have.

And no, I wont 'piss off' because every post I have to read from you makes me grit my teeth with a level of frustration that can only come from listening to ignorant, self important children give their misguided and ignorant views on how the world works and how much better than other individuals they think they are.

this all reminds me of a paper i actually submitted to the state, i suggested each and every student be required to go outside of their normal life style and place of residency for a minimum of one term to experience life in a different perspective.

ideally, i would hope this could be an international student exchange and give people a broader perspective on whats out there and how the world around them really revolves. but, never heard jack squat back from our Govt. big surprise eh?

on a serious side note, we need to stop the damn pissing matches, i know i was somewhat harsh on taras tonight, but i honestly believe that if he read a little more, and read outside of his normal texts he might have a slightly broader and more responsive perspective on it all. I suppose i have been more than lucky to be able to experience the things i have and know the people i have in my life, but its helped shape me and my views into what they are today.

without the fighting, we would be no where, with out the violence and uprisings we would all be FAR more miserable today. remember, the world is flat, so we all need to see things on an equal plane ;)

Wow...I leave for a couple of hours and this thing blows up. Where to start...

First, I want to thank Jason for his words and for getting this back on track. I really didn't want this to turn into a religion debate, because that wasn't the intent of the original post. I was trying to draw attention to the Berkeley issue, not Muslims vs Christianity or anything like that.

Second, I have a couple of things for Taras.

    First, your spatula:

Take this and get a job in a pancake house. You have flipped and flopped in this thread so much I want to put you in a Perkins or a circus. You could do less damage in there anyway.

Second, here's a clue for you:

It scares me how truly ignorant and uneducated you are. You made a statement on the first page about how even if Germany and Japan had the opportunities to have a large military they wouldn't. WTF are you smoking? It must be really, really good for you to have missed a couple of small events I'd like to call World War I and World War II. It should be said that Germany knowingly broke several treaties building up their military in the years before WWII. And Japan had one of the best military forces in the world, but they didn't have the industrial ability to keep up with us once we got involved. The whole idea behind Pearl Harbor was to take away our ability to strike back with our Naval forces. Of course, one small problem happened. They didn't sink our aircraft carriers, only our battleships. Fast forward to Midway when we sunk 4 out of 5 carriers, and suddenly they're in a world of hurt. Add to that an archaic military strategy and a lack of natural resources and it was only a matter of time. Their military was limited to a nominal self defense force by treaty after the war. Germany was too torn apart by both rebuilding and the subsequent takeover by the Soviets to worry about building up a military after the war.

It bothers me that you call yourself educated yet you have no real grasp of international relations or modern history and how the two are intertwined. Your arguments are never based in anything factual, nor do they make sense half the time. And I would bet my left nut that you won't be one of the psychologists who are helping our troops when they come home. Why would you bother putting that in your argument? Does it make you good by association? Nope.

And Jake, I agree with Jason wholeheartedly. You really need to broaden your perspectives. Blanket statements like yours are no better than the assumptions and racism of your Muslim classmate.

Uninformed? I'm going off what you've said thus far. Or did you use the word 'uninformed' because I gave you the opportunity to copy/paste it from my previous posts.

You hate muslims, you think they are a bunch of suicide bombing in the name of allah retards. You generalize, you berate people because they have different views than you...sorry, I'm right here, and everyone here has seen your ******* posts thus far. We actually have a thread devoted to you on t3hw00t discussing just how ignorant and stupid your posts are.

I'm with Jason on this one. I'm gonna have to say that 95% of people who haven't spent any time outside of the education system is for the most part, wet behind the ears. Most high school students think they have the world buy the balls, then eventually, the world slaps them in the face.

Cripes, have you ever had to pay a full gamut of bills? Most college students don't even know WTF is going on.
