I'd be interested, but is this restricted to Subies?

ok. lets chat about it here a bit more than i'll start something.

no we dont have to restrict it to subaru owners but i'm guessing 99.9% of the people going would be subaru owners.

    added you to the ranking.

^That's about what I figured lol.

You should set it up w/ the various forums, and rent out the track, which would be pretty fun (although, it could get pretty crowded/hectic)...

    Different track . . .
I think that's about the right lap time for the original location in Savage.

I think what happened is they closed the doors going to the outside track in Maple Grove. That is a reasonable time for the Indoor track.

well now that i think about it, i had the 2 tracks mixed up. Personally i think burnsville is ran alot better and a more of a "maintain your momentum" track, alot better in my mind. But maple grove is alot closer for me. It would be me and 3 of my buddies. We've rented the track before and it was a blast!:)

I've been to both and IMO though both are very technically challenging, with Burnsville being the more slick surface; Maple Grove has a bit more challenging track in that in when the doors are open for the outdoor track you have to drive on two different surfaces and there's some elevation changes along with banked turns and off camber turn. I personally like MG, less people so I can do my time attack, more challenging and closer to home.

Do they keep the doors open this time of year? I do know they close them when it rains or snows, but what temp do they let you run out it?

Thats a good question, I haven't gone this year at all. Give them a call and find out so you can get some pratice before the showdown, you might make some gas money, especially on the off camber section, most people will end up understeering into the bank. LOL

No, not even close, just been there alot. But you should make a list for maple grove indoors and burnsville. I cant find my sheets for maple grove full track, but here are my other bests.
    maple grove indoors: 20.517
    burnsville: 21.698
I can scan the pages tomorrow if needed. but we really should get a group together and rent the track. I can call tomorrow for prices on a group, i would just need to know what track to call.

:) Yah, but its tuff to get a good clean race in most of the time, because of the little kiddies or the drunk college students playing bumper karts. But thats why we would rent the track.

either one works for me. probably prefer MG. let me know prices and then i'll gather some more info and start a thread about it. maybe we can get grimmspeed to sponsor some of it and i think mike wagner might be willing to help out to.

Oh Oh, I might have to start running and lose some weight, I can use all the advantages I can get. LOL And than you get someone like Fuji who eats a ton and weights like a tooth pick.

Fleck those are some serious times, dude. I wish I could do it more often. I guess depending on the door prize I might not have time. Used sock's, or Subaru air fresh'n R. LOL

Oh, well good luck with it, I know we have tried this multiple times.

I'm actually in loosing weight mode as we speak...not all for karting though :).

I'm not a fan of the MG short course and have never been on the outdoor section. For fatties like me, Burnsville is a little more fun. I think I was right around 21.69 las time I was there...but I don't have the time sheets anymore. I know my MG time sucked on the indoor course...but that was last year at this time.

I'd be in for a mnsubaru race.

Thats funny you brought that up, I'm serious about losing some weight and getting more into shape as I found out last year when Fuji, Lue, Cam and myself went to MG I/O track. The first session was I/O and I was passing these guys. Then on the 2nd session it rained and we ended up running the Indoor track and we switched everyone from fastest to slowest karts.

Okay so here's the best part, I jumped into Lue's Kart cause he's soo fast you know ended up in 4th and he's complaining how POJ this kart was. So attention to detail I found an advantage on his kart which Fuji later found out. He couldn't figure out why and how I was able to carry soo much more speed and kept pulling on him everytime thru the back section doors leading to the outside track and looping back on over to the straight. I later told him I had found that Lue's kart had an open throttle cable exposed, so I litterally flat footed the paddle and heeled the cable for more rev's. Whoosh.... Okay so here we are making laps after laps and my kart sucked on braking, it would slide or hop coming into the "S" turn after the straight and Mr. Fuji is constantly out braking me and catching me. I tell you after the 10th lap or so of constant gut crunching from all that G-load, I was ready to let him pass me by, so I kept telling myself one more lap, one more lap. The excrusianting pain from lack of situp's was evidant. I somehow managed to keep it together and never got passed, but he did manage to get the fastest lap.

So words of experience, get busy on those situps and get fit you'll never know when a feather weight might just be on your rear. And it didn't help that I was coaching these guys around the course, which made me for easy pick'n. LOL

Thats quik, and i believe the track record at burnsville is held by a guy that weighs over 200, i dont know if i believe it or not, but thats what the workers at the track to use. I guess cause he could keep his momentum up through the slick corners. I raced modifieds on dirt and tar, and still burns my forearms after a couple of races on the karts, but all in fun:biggthumpup:

Just called John at ProKart in Maple Grove and to rent the track during the week before 6pm is $615. After 6pm during the week and on the weekends its $835. We can have as many people as we want, but he said to give everyone 3 runs we should have no more that 16. So 16 people at $615 is $38.44 a piece. And 16 people at $835 is $52.19 a piece. I dont know about you guys, but it would be hard for me to get there lets say on a friday before 6pm, because of the drive. With that price is 1 hour of racing. We could run it 2 endurance races 30 minutes a piece and fastest time wins, or we could do 4 15 minute races. But John was suggesting one qualifying session per person, then one heat race per person and then the big feature race. But i guess thats up to us. And if i can remeber right, you need to put a down payment on renting the track over the phone using a credit card so that they can put you in the schedule.
