Last summer something happened to my STI (2004) and it's been sitting in my garage ever since. Just haven't had the time or funds to do anything with it. Well I still don't have the time but I think I can cover the funds part now. I'm looking for suggestions for someplace to bring either the whole car or I can take the motor out. I'm sure NF is probably gonna be the most popular reply but just wondering if there's anyplace to stay away from. The car has the typical bolt ons already including a bigger turbo, it made 270 to the wheels on db's dyno last year, I was plenty happy with that so I'm not looking for a monster build. I'm not sure what exactly happened to it, it started chugging and there was a bunch of clatter going on, and now if you attempt to turn it over it labors, as if the timing is way advanced. The timing belt is tight, that's as far as I dug into it. Anyways, just looking for some suggestions.

Stay away from Firestone ;) Go to NF. Or at least contact Nuke and chat about it.

I second NF but if you are looking for other options I have heard RS motors is good too.
Stay away from MAP for your wallet's sake...

So if I go to NF do I bring the whole car? Or just the motor? I'm comfortable removing and installing the motor, so if that'll save me a lot of money id like to go that route.

Well motor is out and ready to bring down. Nuke will you please check your email or pm's? I need to set up a time to bring it down and find out what you want me to bring. I live 3 1/2 hours north of the cities so I wanna get prepared. Or if someone would be willing to pm me a number to get ahold of him that'd be cool too, as long as he won't mind.

Sounds like they don't want the business. I'd go to RS motors if I were you. I am in no way affiliated with them BTW. (952) 707-0100, their phone number and address are also published on their website and they pick up the phone anytime you call on any business day.

I got ahold of him, he emailed me his number now. I'm sure he's super busy, being the top dog in Subarus in the area. I wasn't sweating them one bit.

A "business" with no phone number or even regular business hours. Only email?:frantic::facepalm: C'mon, Its 2014

My emails still haven't been replied to, guess they didn't want my business/$$$

Wonder if its even a legit business.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against anyone here, and I don't want to turn this into a vs. thread or a flamewar. I'm just thankful we have an active community with local builders/tuners to support our addiction. Kudos to both NF and RS, and anyone else out there that this noob doesn't know about.

Much respect to RS Motors. They are knowledgeable and very well experienced.

Cannot go wrong with either NF or RS.

We are very fortunate, here in MN, to have Subaru builders and tuners.

Had I not chosen NF, it would have been RS. No need to knock on anyone or anyplace. Thanks everyone for your input.

NF is very close to me, and everything they have done has been with quality. Plus, they have been very helpful if I had any questions. Otherwise I would be contacting RS.

I recommend Jiffy Lube! They always fill my blinker fluid for free when they replace my muffler bearings.
They even jetted my carbs to give me more vtec from the turbo.

I couldnt believe I was missing a second transmission when I brought my car to Jiffy Lube! Whoever would have thought I needed one tranny each for forward and reverse.
    THANKS JIFFY LUBE
