I just picked up my 05 WRX back in October. I have a short throw already; but really have only have a few ideas for where I would like to start. This is my first car with a turbo, so I am still learning the quirks of what not to do.

My first idea is to just stick with simple bolt-ons, since I still have a warranty. Anyone have some suggestions on where to start? I was looking at the obvious catback, strut bars, sway bars and swapping out radiator hoses.

My second idea was given to me by a neighbor of a friend of mine. He was saying I should get a 16g, 850 injectors, a STi top mount, and tune. After putting a stage 3 on my last car, I had to get a new injector wire harness. Is this something I would need as well for the WRX? If so, who has the best prices for one?

Other than that I really have no other ideas on where to go until I can take it down to the frame and rebuild it for a time attack. Any ideas, suggestions would be of great help. Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for the link Aegis. I guess I should have remembered that I read that the day I joined, but I forgot about it.

I'd skip the access point recommendation.

Keep in mind that was written back in early 2006, then transferred to this site in 07. At the time you could choose between UTEC or AP.

look for some plug and play injectors like the DW ones.
they're a much better option than wiring up the harness just for a different set of injectors.

An AP is still a reasonable purchase as it's fairly conservative for a new modder. You can also get into the details with the AccessTuner software

I understand, just wanted to make sure he did.

We'll agree to disagree. I think you can stick the money into injectors and get an opensource tune for about that same amount.

I would assume that having someone tune your car (since all cars are different, even if built in the same year) is better than a generic plug-in tune for your year car. With that in mind I would say OS Tune and agree with retreif.

True for a basic stage 1 or stage 2. No way I'd recommend one to someone thinking about a 16g, though.

Thanks for all the info! Really helping me find the direction I want to go. I plan on having Ronnie at RS tune for me. He did some work on my last car and I really like the work he does. If there is someone better I am open for recommendations.

I just got my Perrin panel filter in yesterday and noticed a better throttle response than I had when I had an SPT short ram on. I am glad I took the advice on the intake, now I just need to take out the silencer. My next adventure is front and rear strut bars and sway bars. Then during the winter I plan on working on the exhaust system, minus the headers. I want to save that cash for the turbo and injectors next summer.

I have the stock boost gauge, but what to monitor some other things as well. What are the best gauges to get other than air/fuel and EGT?

My choices for gauges normally is:

Boost, Oil Pressure, Wideband 02, Water temp, EGT
