So one of the last times I did my oil change upon taking off the skid plate I broke of three bolt heads. Not a big deal and I didn't think anything of it. But today I went to drill and extract them and I have already gotten an extractor broken off in one of the holes. Does anyone have any advice and or could help me later? I have b33r, V8 juice, and Sunny D your welcome to all of them and you can even mix them if you would like :yumyum:. I would like not to break any more extractors since I am borrowing them and I don't think they are cheap.

    Thanks
    Chet

You were doing my brakes, thats why I left the skid plate at your place.

Off topic question did you get different bolts for your metal skid plate?

Go to northern tool. Buy set of reverse (left hand) drill bits.

Drill out going from a smaller size to a larger. Usually the bolts will simply back out before you get big enough to use an extractor.

Also I think I could get them out if my drill would grip the bit when in reverse.

I can answer that. Yes, I sold the skidplates with new bolts, so he wouldn't havbeen reusing the stock ones (probably)

Update, I got 2 of the three out, the one that remains has an extractor stuck in it. I'm not dumb enough to drill into hardened steel. The two that came out I had to sacrifice the threads but thats no biggie, I'm gonna make them larger this weekend.

have you EVER tried to drill out extractors??? pretty much impossible.. tried on a door hinge...

you may need to do some drastic things and then re-tap for a bigger bolt
