Oh really, I was the first to chime in saying there was additional damage that your installer should have made you aware of, guess that was being a douche bag. I guess I have not been working on these cars for years and know what happens when someone is stupid enough to drive there car when the turbo is making more noise than some bolts in a coffee can. So you want a douche bag comment I will give you one. You got what you deserve for being a dumb arse, hope your wallet enjoys it.
Just sayin, theres no reason to be the "I told you so" guy. But, ur right, its expensive, and I guess the moral is to learn from mistakes... But hey, so what. Either way I would be spending the same amount of money to get the car back up and running, and i can afford it so ur comment doesnt really make me feel that bad. So either way, in the end, this dumb a** is gunna be rockin' a sick STi... and, you'll still be a douche bag. :wiggle:
and what you think is a DB will still have a car that will kick your STi's arse all over the place.... I'm guessing you have never meet Bikerboy, you might shut your mouth if you had.
so what, I never claimed my car was, is, or ever will be faster than anyones. I was just sayin it was a DB comment... I dont think theres gunna be a fight behind the school gym or anything! lol
he did say your engine might be ****ed after you posted pix of your old turbos. quick being a bitch dan
Ok lets get some facts straight here Dan. I was nice enough to give some advise that the others before me in this thread didn't cover: Your installer was quick to PM me looking for information: So your car takes a crap and I try and give you a little more advise: Just checking back with you again to make sure you get the rebuild done right: And there you are whipping out your ethug DB comment: I am sorry that you are all but hurt about your car Dan, but you are the one who ignored all the advise from me and the others in this thread. There is really no reason to get so upset you made all these bad choices yourself. Lets see if your latest choice will be any better. Sorry to give you some more bad news but your new turbo, yeah what do you think all that bearing material in your oil did to that nice new expensive ball bearing cartridge? Sleep well Dan!! Thanks for the support of the other members here, nice to feel that love!
First of all, ya, like i said u were right, never said any different. And this is a build thread, the whole point is for people to learn from other peoples experiences. Youve been on the net long enough to know that its rare for everything go right during a build like this. No reason to rub it in someones face when it doesnt. What did u expect an apology for not listening to u? And yeah, I'll sleep fine. And I'll have updates soon too. Ya, I'm done, no hard feelings on this end
Bikerboy is at the top of a very short list of people who, if they give me advise, I listen to it... and if he says I told you so, I know I ****ed up! He's probably rebuilt subaru engines more times than I've changed oil. Most of us are here to help each other, so it might be a good idea to not burn down this bridge, Bora. Anyway, I hope you get all your ducks in a row this time around and don't cut any corners. Keep us posted on the progress.
i dont think dan is on here burning bridges dude he hooks all you guys up with s*it beyond cheep all the time.
ok ok, thanks but, we're:deadhorse:here and getting OT... update: what I'm getting accomplished while the motor is out... just received all my gauges (thanks Nuke) along with the pod (triple clock pod), went with boost, egt, and oil pressure. also got 70mm APS cai, ACT clutch (figure since its out its a good time to replace) and AOS (thanks Josh@importimage and Grimmspeed)
Motor is back in, driving, needs tune... Picking up and shakedown/tune (along with buttoning up other small suspension cosmetic stuff) next week... will update
I have heard there is all kinds of fail with this still. Sorry Bora I am not trying to start anything. I feel you should know the truth about what is going on.
everything has been gone through, twice... driving it today and getting tuned this weekend... motor feels strong and healthy so far
Glad to hear it! When will you have it at work? I want to stop by and get some info on snow tires and would love to check it out.
good to hear its all checking out. just for future reference, and to restate something for the record, Matt (bikerboy) is without a doubt one of the most knowledgable people on this board. it definitely seemed like he was trying to look out for you right off the bat. post up the numbers once the dynoing is all done, I'm curious as to what this turbo does and where it puts the power.
Personally, I'd be changing the oil every few minutes on this car for a while. Cheap added insurance, IMO. Hope it all works out.
Thanks Curly! The problem is that I have heard that this car once again has had issues on a supposed rebuild. I think the builder needs to come clean about the fact that he drove the car without oil preasure and pulled the pan on the new rebuild and found shavings again. I am sorry to keep kicking this thread Bora but you need to know the truth.
I need to clarify that I am not getting all the information from all the parties. I don't think i have 100 percent of the story from anyone in the loop on this. long block builder: DG Installer: iroc-z So my previous statemant was not 100% correct. I can certainly offer my assistance if you would like Bora. Just drop me a PM.
dont know, too many people had their hands on it, dont have the time or money to go any further with the project
Agreed, that really does blow. I'm interested in hearing your side of the story. I'm not asking you to point fingers or lay blame, although you're free to do that if you think it's appropriate of course. I just think hearing the whole story might help readers hear about some of the ups and downs and pros and cons as well as hidden expenses that pop up when it comes to build and re-build projects. Again, sorry to hear that you ran into more issues.
i really appreciate the kind words and all the help everyone has given me on this post (even though i havent been very susceptible to advise). to be honest i have no idea what went wrong. it gave up on the way to get tuned, just gave up on the way on the highway (no boost btw). egt went way high and by the time i got to a parking lot the motor was fried. I'm not going to point fingers, theres no way to be sure what happened. Ive moved on... trading for another car (a reliable dd) and saving up for a non-dd project... my loss, oh well. anyone want some blue 18's! lol
^not for awhile, i gotta get out of debt first^ i have considered an evo, but i dont think i want an awd project next... 911 or m3 next (dont hold ur breath tho) But seriously, thank all of you for ur concern and ur help! it was way fun while it lasted
that's too bad, sounds like there were a potential mass of issues, could be a number of things or one catalyst that started a chain reaction of bad news. sorry it didn't pan out man, hopefully someone trades for it and brings it back to life with a new heart again.
