Has anyone replaced their steel turbo oil line with braided oil line? Subaru has recall on turbo oil line and they use bracket to support stock line from vibrations. However my oil line was moved a little with install on the 18G turbo and bracket would not fit. So, i wanted to replace my oil line with braided one or wait until oem line cracks and than replace it:(

huh?? he's talking about the turbo oil feed line. Comes from the back of the engine and routes up to the top of the turbo.

Max, I'd replace it with a braided line if it worries you. However, I don't think your current set-up will cause you problems..IIRC it wasn't touching anything.

I always recommend a braided line for bigger than stock turbos. That's because it's easier during the installation.

Yes sir... The recall says, Inspect then add the stay bracket and clip. If the clip is then bent more then 2mm replace oil line assmebly. Which means removing intake manifold and water pipe. It comes as a Recall kit for everything. Dealer only for now though

I heard people used to cut steel line so there is no need to remove intake manifold and just rerought new oil line on the side. So, the oem line breaks under manifold, is that the case? I know my line moved by more than 2mm, but I don't see it kink anywhere. Should I be concerned about it?

I have a braided line that should fit your requirements. its a goodrigge I believe, the block fitting is the new style not the banjo one, and the turbo side is the standard banjo fitting. Its brand new and never been used and is about 12" long. Call me if you want to check it out. 952-240-4001 -Matt oh and I paid $75 but will let it go for $50

I don't know how you would use a braided steel line, being the one that needs to be replaced two banjo fittings on it, (One on the end and one in the middle). Unless they make something like this. Also, subyr, I saw your line and it is bent badly.

You could make your own line to do the job, but you need to be fairly handy. I made my oil feed including the adapter for under $40, but that was with a good local hydraulic shop. I wanted to eliminate the banjos because they annoy me compared to AN fittings.

Max came over and we replaced the defective oem bracket and line. We were able to remove the stock oil line completely w/o much drama. He replaced the lines with custom braided line set-up. Should've took some pictures:roll:

The 18g turbo that we stuffed in there a couple months ago proved to be a bit of a challenge to route the line around. If he still had the stock turbo it would've been a super easy job, but we had to remove his 18g because it was blocking all access to the fitting.

Overall, very nice looking set-up and he's ensured no oil issues to the turbo or avcs.

His car is looking pretty sweet, both exterior and engine bay...especially with the shiny avo IC in there.:yumyum: Best looking 08 WRX I've seen!

Thanks for your help Dave. We should have taken some pictures, it's imposible to see the the fitting right now. The huge turbo is in the way :)
