I think I have a brake fluid leak. when I am driving and really have to get on the brakes the feel like they go soft and worthless. So at the next stop I pumped them a few times and built up the pressure and then just pushed on the brake peddle and it slowly went to the floor.

so am I on the right track thinking there is brake fluid leak somewhere in the system.

Or you have air in the system, or a brake cylinder issue. Check your fluid level and for leaks under the car first.

You have two subaru techs that live 12 miles away from you, dont make the mistake of NOT using them AGAIN to the advantage you should be. Oh and btw if you had that massive of a fluid leak, your "brake" light would be on immediatly.

Your master cylinder is on its last leg. Get it replaced ASAP. Sooner than later, you'll come to a stop light and the car won't even slow down while you slam on the brake. Drive with your hand on the e-brake and be ready to downshift to help slow you down.

I hope this was a joke. 99% of the time when this happens on a Subaru, it's seized pads in the slides.

Oh sorry... I forgot about the seized caliper possibility. But it is scary when the MC goes out on you!

    Good luck with the fix.
