I decided to finally put together a build thread for my 05 STI. I haven't done too much to it yet but plan on it in the very near future. I purchased the car in the fall of 2009 after wanting an STI for years. I found a completely bone stock car with 53,000 miles on Craigslist that was owned by an older guy. The car had never been driven in the winter and was extremely clean. First day of ownership: I drove it for the remainder of the fall and then parked it in the garage for the winter. The next summer I decided it was time for a little bump in power so I had Bullwinkle tune it stage 1. I really liked the how the stage 1 tune smoothed out the power band and brought the boost on earlier in the RPM Range. Stage 1 tune results: I drove the car with the stage 1 tune for two years and then met Derek (Ofspunk7). That is where things started getting sketchy . Derek gave me a ride in his 2009 WRX with a stage 2 E85 set-up and a Nuke tune. I couldn't believe how much faster his car felt than mine! After getting back in my car it felt extremely slow and I had to do something about it.......So I did! Bring on the go fast parts! List of parts: Invidia Q300 exhaust Invidia V2 Down-pipe (Ceramic coated by Grimmspeed) DW 850 cc injectors DW 300 lph fuel pump ACT HD clutch ACT Street-light fly-wheel Grimmspeed 3-port EBCS Grimmspeed ceramic coated turbo heat-shield Grimmspeed DP Gasket Golan stainless steel fuel filter Forge BPV I also updated the brakes with Hawk HP pads and Frozen Rotors. After receiving all of the parts I brought the car over to NF Performance and met Nuke, Fuji and Roger for the first time......NF installed all of the parts and Nuke tuned the car on E85 and Pump gas. The car felt absolutely amazing! I was actually kind of scared of the car until I learned how to deal with new found power. Crappy PDF of the Dyno Sheet from RS Motors is at the bottom: Made 292 HP and 323 TQ. at 21 PSI Got me an NF Sticker yo!
This past fall I got sick of the big wing and decided to explore going "Winless". I ended up picking up a trunk lid from KA-T_240. This was off of Badbennyb's old car! . I decided to De-badge it for a cleaner looks: Side profile with "Winless Trunk Lid":
The time has come to replace the OEM struts and springs and give the car the look it wants and needs. Stock strut housings with Koni inserts and RCE Yellows. Side note: The front OEM struts on the car were completely seized!!! Here is a shot of the car after the install.
LOL! I'm at work and thought it would be a good idea to start this.......What you see is as far as I have gotten. I'll get some pics up.
