Car died going into a Hwy

I don't know what's going on with this car but it died when I was merging into 169 today. Car just stoped turning and a bunch of warnning lights went on. I started it while still rolling and it was fine. It also makes wining sound like turbo spooling but it becomes louder when I slow down. I could hear it wine when I am in vacuum range but once I build boost it sounds like turbo spooling to me. I have 08 WRX with 18G turbo and supporting mods plus AEM cold air intake.

P.S. I took my wife's car, 08 WRX stock, and I could hear that turbo spool as well but not as loud as mine. I know my intake makes it louder but I can not hear her car wine when I slow down.

Any idea? I thought my turbo is dying for some reason but it makes full boost and no ratling noise or any other side effects.

It does not sound like turbo when I slow down, maybe gear wining? Why did the car died, that's the question? I thought it could be connected somehow.

 

That's what I was thinking too, but it's a new car not even 15k on it.

Some kind of intake leak? No other ideas off the top of my head.

 

Does it run/start ok now? How's the idle?

 

It drives and starts fine, no issues there.

 

Subytek are you working tomorrow at Morries? I wonder if you could take a ride in the car and see if you could hear what I hear. I would come around 3pm tomorrow.

I work till 2:30 and don't really want to stay until 5pm, I would try comming later. Dave and I took it for a drive and he thinks it could be a gearing noise. I started hearing it after ss install and harder bushings.

 

yeah, the noise is def. coming from the transmission. typical noises for harder than stock bushings.

 

I noticed this in my car once I put in stiffer bushings as well.

 

Transmission whine is one thing. Why did the car die is another. At least to me.

 

Well, I can not explain why it died but it happened once and I just thought it was somewhat related to the noise I was hearing. I will just keep an eye on it and see if it will happend again.

 

Maybe you hit the ignition key and turned the car off?
