First off, the car is a MY00RS with and 07WRX motor swap. 18g, ebay tmic, 800cc injectors, gimmick inlet, gm bcs and all the basic supporting mods, tuned via Opensource.

The car has been a great car on this setup for 2 years now. I stopped modding because this was my DD. However the other day, my starter took a crap on me so I had to replace that. In the process, I had to take off my TMIC and that was about it. After installing everything, the car idles fine, and runs fine up until I try to get into boost. Everything is smooth until I hit about 10psi, the engine chokes, and bogs (hiccups?) then builds boost again. My AFRs all seem about right (11.2-11.8) under boost and are normal at cruise and idle. There are no CELs and my gasmileage is still the same. I am befuddled! Sounds kind of like a spark plug misfire too but no CEL? Maybe a preturbo exhaust leak?

Any help or suggestions would be great!

Here are the things that I did so far:

Checked all vaccum lines/hoses but no leaks. Cant hear any either.
Thought it could be me wastegate but it isnt.
Thought it could be my GM BCS so I routed my wastegate straight to my turbo to run 10psi and still the engine acts the same way at max boost.

UPDATE: I drove it around some more this morning, in 5th gear the car chokes then overboosts to 25psi! Would a leak in the intake manifold side cause this? Any ideas?

Do you have a way to log your car?

    Who tuned it?

Whats the age and condition of your maf sensor and front o2 sensor?

Doesn't sound like a leak related to reinstalling your intercooler since you'd see it run rich under boost. Most preturbo leaks would present other symptoms youd notice too (running lean or rich, exhaust leak noise, etc...)

Thank you for providing a well written and descriptive post.

Nate on here tuned it a couple years ago when I was in AR for school. The front o2 was just replaced in the spring, so I know its not that. None of the symptoms i had in the spring for the o2 is present except maybe the hesitation. I got a new laptop now so I could possibly reinstall opensource and get some logs in if you guys want. I remember when we tuned my car, the pressure sensor on the car was bad and I had to replace it. I am wondering if something similar happened when i took the starter out because there were some sparks that generated when I took the ground wire out and did not disconnect the battery...

My MAF has not been touched since the swap. I did put in a Gimmick Inlet a while ago too but the car ran fine with it.

    plugs are good?

Logs would definitely help troubleshoot. Sounds like you have an lc1 or similar? If you can log afr with that, that would be helpful as well. Look at rpm, load, flkc, rtkc (or whatever its called), manifold pressure (boost), afr, ign timing, and fuel.

The turbo inlet should not effect the tune.

I actually have plx m-300 so I cant log AFRs. I can try to just monitor my AFRs. First, I gotta try and find my tactrix cable somewhere in my boxes since i've moved back. Keep the suggestions coming guys. Thanks
