So, I tried doing the DIY bluetooth mic for the 08 Nav head unit. I did a test on it two times to make sure it worked and everything seemed good to go. After i installed the panel back on; I tried to give the car a start and the Nav unit was loading. It stopped and flickered 3-4 times and the head unit went blank. I turned off the car and tried starting it without any luck. I took the head unit out to see if the car would start up without it and still no luck. When I turn the car on the car's electronics - speedometer gives a slight hesitation and the "ampg" only goes up slowly. When I try turning on my lights; only the right side would turn on and then turn off and the left side would turn on. Would this be a dead fuse or just something worse? It's a bit late and i wont be able to work on it until after work tomorrow. The car will only click when trying to start. Thanks for inputs
Check the fuse box in the front under the hood and see if you blew a fuse. Also thinking you have a good battery check the volts. You should have extra fuse in the front hood panel.
That's what i'm thinking. Hopefully nothing to crazy. I'll take a look tomorrow after I get off work. This make me hesitant to plug the mic back in...
sounds like you did not disconnect the battery when you did the install. or maybe a ground issue. good luck
Yeah, i'm guilty the second time(after covering up the exposed wires) I just plugged everything in with battery connected.
I think I've left the battery connected before when installing radios...haven't had an issue that I recall. I don't mean to point out the obvious, but it sounds like you may have a dead battery. Did you try jumping it and/or checking the volts at the battery?
I haven't tried giving it a jump since everything lighted up last night. I checked a couple of fuses in the car this morning before leaving to work - the ones labeled head unit and the ones next to it and they all appear to be good. I'll probably go buy a set of fuses once i'm off work and check the fuses in the engine after giving the battery a jump.
