    hi all,

so I have an 07 WRX 2.5 TR 5 speed.

I picked it up from moterworks BMW about a year ago now have no info as to what the previous history of the car is with regards to mods.

I’m driving it home from work this past Mar and i smell an over whelming aroma of fuel.

Make it home and look under the hood and I can see that the driver side fuel rail is leaking on out the end closest to the fire wall. No ENG Light came on tho.
Had it towed over to the local Subaru dealer to have it replaced.

Picked it up and the same day the ENG light came on. P2096 Lean Condition in Bank 1.
Brought it back, they “traced it back to a loose connecter on the wiring harness”

Picked it up again and again the light came on. With the same code.
Brought it back, saying what the ____.

A week and a call to the Subaru Engineers later they say it’s because the ECU has a non OEM flash on it and they don’t have the ability of just reflash it. They also said that they don’t know with will happen if we replace the ECU, it might open a new can of worms.

So I have a few Qs to through out there for everyone.
    1. Would replacing a fuel rail cause this type of code.
    2. Would it make more sense that one of the injectors got something in it.
    3. I would rather not have to buy an OEM ECU if I don’t have to because down the road I plan on building it up to a stage 2. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

"NF" will fix this without costing you thousands to replace the ecu, which WOULD fix the problem because the flash is saved on the ecu, but so should a simple reflash by NF which will cost you a tenth or less what the dealer wants to charge you to fix it. That is if what the dealer is saying is correct and they're not just trying to run up your bill. But that code could be related to about a dozen other things too. NF can run through the check list for a fraction the dealer does though.

NF=Nuke Performance, Check the vendor section or send the guy that posed first (named nuke) a pm (personal message) and he will be able to get you what you need. You could also talk with Ron from RS Motors (also in the vendor section). They are located in burnsville, they have a great reputation just like Nuke Performance.
jmyher05 is correct, I had that same code and it can be up to 10+ different reasons you threw that code. You are better off talking with some of the performance vendors and letting them look at it. It will be pennies compared to the dealership.
