i wasnt there but i heard dreamis hit around 450 and jason couldnt get a dyno because of some problems. i'll let them tell the details...
I was there tonight - got a road tune from Clark at the end of the night. He was running an hour and a half late b/c of troubleshooting. The wait was totally worth it, though. My car is bone stock and the difference is awesome with Clark's tuning. Best $200 I ever spent. Thanks again Clark. Sorry we made you work so late. Also - if you are going to road tune, bring some mechanic's gloves and a 22mm wrench (or an 02 wrench if you have it) to take the O2 sensor out with. Clark and I now have matching burns on our index fingers. EDIT: zip ties are also needed
I'm about to hit the garage and fix my issue. The problem possibly lies in the fuel pump or the feed tube from the fuel pump to the fuel pump access panel. I'm going to replace the fuel pump with a brand new Walbro 255 and a new chunk of fuel line. I also have a second Walbro 255 just in case.
Laugh all you want. My initial guess of Dream's 468whp was dead on...until Clark backed it off to smooth out the curve due to wg constantly cracking open @ 30psi.
I only got 1 phone call so that's always a good sign. Sorry to hear about some of your troubles but it sounds like the day wasnt so bad. Someone tomorrow bring Clark a HUGE diet soda for me. LOL Thanks.
i got a 12 pack diet POP ready for him...wrapped in ribbons.... what the results guys....vidz etc.....
8:30-9am ish. Sometime in there. I found the issue. My ******* used the wrong kind of line to connect the pump to the tank lid. I guess in one of my drunken modding moments, I grabbed the wrong kind of line and it soaked up the fuel and rotted out. I'll have it with me when I get to the dyno tomorrow so you can take a peek at my utter failure as a human being. I didnt' have anything on hand, so I used the rubber joint hose from the OEM fuel rail system. That should hold her over.
Clark really went above and beyond yesterday. I heard he had to pay out of HIS pocket for going over 2 hours on the dyno...
Yea Clarks not too happy. When you all get to the dyno you HAVE to have your parts installed. If you all don't have everything ready Clark will not make it through all the cars scheduled before he has to go to the airport. There is enough time in that schedule to give everyone the exact amount of time they signed up for and not a minute more. When I am there I just start kicking people off and say wait until the end for a road tune to if you want more tuning because we end up getting charged for extra dyno time out that no one wants to pay for. AND the people who paid for their hour may not get it in the end. Hopefully everything works out but it doesnt sound so good right now.
Just wanted to give Clark a big thanks he did mine right at 9 am Sat and I couldn't be happier. The car is smooth as butta and is a monster compared to the pre-tune. Did I win the title for the largest gain? I picked up 56.2hp after the tune and crap load more TQ then that. Wow that was a change the car is totally new again!! Thanks again and good to meet Dream and others there in the morning. Thanks to LSE as well!
Thanks for everyone that came out, great times. Clark was wonderful to deal with and everyone here at the shop was very respectful of our work areas and customer cars, thanks people! To the 2 individuals that "forgot" to pay the tuner...I hope those issues become resolved. "Bad blood" isn't a good thing to have in this industry.
Agree'd! Im going to give these 2 people 2 days to pay up before I start smearing names. Everybody that got a dyno plot can you please send those to me so I can setup a post with everybody's info. Thank's to Clark to the tuning and dealing with LOTS of issues. Next time around there will be some new rules. Dyno sheets to come!
Great turnout great tune from Clark...and yes please for the 2 individuals that didn't pay please do so... Sheen your REX is now an SUV with those #'s...lol 240whp 280wtq Greg...280+whp and wtq...Wow...on a Stg 2
Smear me. I forgot. Forgive me for my brainlessness, I was operating on 3 hours of sleep and alot of stress. I'll Paypal Clark.
Hey Dream could we do the sheets with mods and problems encountered at the dyno so people can learn what needs to be done before hand? I know it can be embarassing but it is a learning process. I for one want to learn. I know we all do it. I totally forgot my AP cables and power supply once when I was going to a tune. What a pain.
Lol. The numbers aren't great but the tune feels amazing. With the td04 I had similar numbers. I think 220 and 270. But peak tq was at 3400 and peak hp at 4900. Now with the vf39 peak torque is at 3600 and peak hp at 5700. Feels like the insta-torque td04 that I was missing so much but with a bit more midrange. Should feel great for autocross! Huge thanks to Clark, Dream, guys at lse and everyone that helped make it happen.
Dream, was you GF subiechick? I gave her my $100 that I owed clark after I got back from the ATM. I wish I would have known it was cash only I felt like a idiot driving to go get cash. Sounds like that was the least of the problems though. Thanks for setting up, love my tune!
he gained like 63 or so whp on his jdm 2 liter i think he did somthing like 360 or so on pump gas and man did it sound sexy running to 8K redline
My 04 STI stage 2 with a typhoon hot air intake did 278 WTQ and 251 WHP my baseline was 212 WTQ and 196 WHP Feels like a new car! I'm using EcuTek, Clark was telling me that he is known for is AVCS cam mapping, most cars get around 28-30 degrees and I was pulling 33-34 he said different cars have different tolerances and mine was on the end of the spectrum. It wanted to make more and more but we ran out of fuel in the last 1000 rpm running at 100% IDC's. Should have had a walboro I guess.
Yeah, cam mapping can make a huge difference if you know what you're doing. It's not necessarily how much advance but rather how much advance and where it's placed. It's too bad mr. clack tunning was too busy sorting out everyone's **** on Saturday. I really wanted to pick his brain. Oh well.
I hit somewhere in the realm of 315-325whp on pump gas. It fluctuates based on what my fuel system decides to do at 5750 rpms. For some reason I completely lose fuel pressure at that rpm. The dyno operator and Josh at LSE both suggested possibly the FPR. Clark said possibly a clog in the fuel rails. The FPR is an easy and cheap check. I'm going to replace it with a new stocker and run the car to 6000. I should know immediately if it worked since Clark had to put the IDCs at 97% to even out the lack of fuel pressure at that RPM. If the FPR fixes it, it'll stumble and fall on it's face with richness. Which is what I'm hoping happens. If anyone has a fuel pressure guage that I can borrow for a couple days, let me know.
I agree. I'm going to have to look at the wiring on it to see how the 5v output comes out, but I should have no problem putting it in the CAMP.
It should be very straightforward. There's a 12v and then 2 grounds and then 2 outputs that can go to two different sources (gauge, CAMP, ect.).
