After I installed my boost gauge there seems to be a quiet clicking noise. It only happens when im at a steady 2 - 4k RPMs but not when im giving it gas. I checked all my connections and everything is tight. Im stumped. Thoughts?

Electronic boost gauge? Maybe the stepper motor.

Otherwise, I'm thinking the noise was always there but more noticeable now that you opened the grommet in the firewall.

    Which boost gauge?
I know when I installed the stock one, mine was clicking due to not having some filter or sort with the line.

If I remember correctly, it's the prosport premium...right? I've come to the conclusion that it's the stepper motor...sometimes I notice it, other times I don't.

I just installed my Prosport electronic boost gauge. No clicking. It has a little cheap looking filter unit.

Ya, I put that little filter thing in too...is that what would cause it to be a little louder? I just assumed it was the stepper motor making noise...

I thought the filter was just to make the needle not jump around with tiny fluctuations.

It is a prosport guage and I just tapped in at the BPV line and it started making this noise. So the noise is ok then. It isnt hurting anything?

Is the noise coming from your gauge...or somewhere else?

I guess I wouldn't call my noise a clicking...it just sounds like a step motor and since the gauge is run by a step motor, I just assumed it was ok.

    oh...nevermind then.

Have you had someone rev it for you while you're listening under the hood? Pinpointing where the noise is coming from is step one...

I don't know what could cause clicking in the engine bay just by installing a boost gauge.

Where did you mount your sender? Could it be hitting against something and making a clicking noise?

Well, it could be your GMBCS or just some wastegate flutter. Both of those noises are about what you're describing, and both happen (louder) when you're holding steady partial throttle boost.

I guess if you removed some grommets from the firewall (as Sheen said), those both may have gotten louder.

Alright...now you have me listening closely to my boost gauge. I don't know how to describe the sound it makes other describing it like noisy gears.

The really odd thing is that after driving for 5-10 min, the noise completely goes away! It's almost like my gauge has to "warm up" haha

i have an AutoMeter SportComp electronic boost and the guage does make some noises anytime the needle moves.
