Can anyone tell me what this is nicely when putting on the intake I noticed an aluminum pipe where I thought the plastic snorkus was supposed to be. The car had the stock box with k and n filter. I was wondering if this is some sort of upgrade or what. Thanks, no flaming needed I did not fell like wearing the flame suit today.
yes that was my guess as well...wonder what else I am going to find. From half yellow calipers to intake tubes....whats next.
I'm not sure what you would need to do to pull it out though, oh and did the car come with that plate over the larger hole or was that part of the SPT kit?
you mean the black plastic thing on the side wall, that came with the car. I took that off to get a look at the tube but it was to hard to see.
to really see what's in there it's best to get under the car (jack the front up) and start pulling part the plastic underbody guards (whatever you call them). that way you'll see for sure what's in there
Looks like there was a hybrid CAI in there that drew air in fromt he fender well, but used the stock intake filter box. If you take out the fender liner you may discover more.
If I recall correctly, you could just pull the fog light if all u wanna do is take a look-see. Quicker than pulling all the plastic bits-n-bobs unless you think you'll yank it outta there.
Maybe I am wrong. But having stated my potential wrongness outright, here is how I look at it: On the bugeye, the fog light has four screws visible from the front. 3 are mounting screws that hold the light in place via 3 Black Tabs. The 4th screw is slightly forward of the other 3 and goes into a whitish tab that is part of the fog light housing. As long as you don't adjust the screw on the non-black tab, unmounting and mounting the fog lamp should have very little impact on it's adjustment. Again, maybe I am wrong; but 3 screws and possibly an electrical connector if you really want to get the light outta the way is a lot easier than all the plastic rivets, brake ducting and inner fender liner. UNLESS you are already committed to removing whatever you find. Then removing the fog still may help but not necessarily. Good luck, eh!
You're right about being able to take it on and off without adjusting it. But those three screws tend to be corroded badly, and are very prone to breaking when removed, so something as simple as three screws can turn into a huge bolt extraction mess.
this is the truest statement ive seen all week. wd-40 and a phillips plus a gentle hand. no sockets or those guys will snap off before you even know it.
why has it taken so long to say this? its like three plastic push pins and you can get in to it from under the car. by pulling the fog light out you will get nothing done but get to look threw a 3 inch hole.
