So, I am looking for a tranny for my girlfriend's newly acquired 2000 2.5 RS. It needs a tranny. I keep finding cable-clutch trannies, but no hyrdos. So is it possible to convert a cable clutch to hydro setup? I would think it might be, but I'm not sure so I'm hoping someone here knows for sure. Thanks

I've heard it's possible....although I'm not sure how. seems the fork would be a fairly different design.....

might be easier to swap the pedal box and convert to the cable setup.

The case is different. No spot for the pin.

I have a 2.5RS tranny in my OBS. I think the 2.5RS is hydraulic, and my car is still cable clutch. I don't see why you can't swap between the two.

Here are some pics of my OBS (cable clutch) transmission when it was out.

Here's the RS tranny installed in the car.

well, I really don't like cable clutches so I'd like to keep the hydro if I can. i'll have to do more investigation into it...

I thought Timshow converted to cable to run cheap trannys.

Cable isn't bad at all. I still miss the feel of it, and the simplicity.

You can swap between the two by using different slave cylinders. I have a couple of cable trannies in storage and a hydro tranny in the car right now. The big difference is the direction that the slave cylinder pushes on the fork.
