this is for a 99 RS. I found that pin 25 on connector 135 needs to be grounded, according to this
    [IMG]

currently there is nothing going to pin 25.
    1. how do I pull a pin?
    2. is there an unused pin i could pull?
    3. can i just ground the pin somewhere where the ecu sits?

another problem aside. when i was pulling out the ecu i got a couple of sparkles, i checked the connector but i don't see any cables touching each other. what should i check/do?

    thanks guys

PS: i'm doing this because it's causing 2 CELs.

there should be a wire there. are you sure you're looking at the right pin? it's pretty easy to get mixed up and look at the wrong side.

There wasn't a wire in that spot on my harness, either.

If you are unplugging the TCM, those pins are probably the same. Pull one out with 6-12 inches of wire attached.

Just ground it right to one of the screws that holds the ecu down, just give it a good rub down with sandpaper or something abrasive first, then slap a little dielectric grease over it (carpet can hold water pretty well = rust).

jnorth, what did you encounter that required you to switch ECU's? I ask because so far everything I've seen points towards them being entirely interchangeable. I have a couple little issues with mine, but my wiring only ever got half done and I believe thats the cause.

TCM? is it the same as the TCU? because there's no TCU in my car anymore, since it's only for the auto. At this point it might just be easier to buy a pin attach it to a cable, plug it in and ground it. Because I don't wanna pull a pin I am not sure about.

The main reason we switched was because we did a motor swap at the same time.

I know there is a way to modify an auto ECU but I cant remember correctly how to do it.

also ECU's can be had pretty cheaply and its pretty easy to swap them.

thanks. I will let you know if what I am doing doesn't work.

I went down there again and I think the guy who did the electrical work did almost everything but taking care of pin 25. so there are some wires that have been cut and no pin available to be pulled.

where can i buy a pin? is a 22 gauge 300v a good wire to use?

any wire will be fine for that. literally, any wire at all.

For the pin, you could use one of the wires going to the ECU that came from the TCU/TCM. Those should still be there.

So, like, "Torque Control 2 Signal" or something.

Pull the pin from one spot in the ecu connector and cut the wire a ways down. Then insert in the right spot for the new ground.

DONE! DONE! it's working, CEL is gone! thanks qstarin. I also looked at the wiring diagrams to make sure I was pulling the right wire. but now I have one extra 10mm nut. there are 3 bolts and 4 nuts. but you can use at most 2 nuts directly on the ecu, because if you put the 3rd one on the top bolt, then the firewall doesn't line up. I don't remember where 4th nut was.
