Hey every one, I just picked up a OBP '05 WRX about three months ago.
I'm looking into getting the interior custom painted and all jazz'd up this spring.
I'm curious on what others have done, that may spark some ideas. I'm pretty set with keeping the gold BBS rims I have, which is pushing me towards doing the interior gold and black. I know a guy(who painted my entire '06 eclipse Yamaha Blue and repainted both sides of the WRX) that I'm going to be working with.
I'm thinking about taking all of the trim(around radio, on door tweeters, locks, handles, vents) and painting it gold. Would that look tacky?
I would like to possibly replace/change the LED's in my dash but I'm unsure where to begin with that.
Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated!

I personally would think that painting the interior might end up tacky and same with any cheesy colored LED lighting.
If I were you I would invest that money into some swaybars, struts, and springs. The stockers are likely tired and it will feel like a whole new car! ...and won't have a gold painted interior!! :)

Reminds me of a five year old West Coast Customs show.

Ah haah, people were right about you guys. Tough ones to please. =]
I'm not talking about going WAY out there as far as painting the interior, just little things.
It's on lowering springs already, not sure what kind though. I haven't checked that out yet.

Function > Form. I would spend the money on performances/handling increases, not cosmetics that will greatly reduce the resale value of the car. Just my personal opinion though.

I did away with ALL of the grey in mine and went black. I also, for a short time, went with a blue on the trim rings and other dash pieces and i grew out of it very fast! The fact is, most interior parts that you'll paint are easy to repaint if you don't like it. Try out a few different colors and see what you like! I always came back to black. It makes it look like it should have looked from the factory.

    Good luck!

Yes. Yes it will look tacky. I have never seen interior painting that did NOT look tacky. ESPECIALLY gold. Seriously, that will look like the very definition of 'tacky'.

Spend the money elsewhere. Do some suspension mods. You'll be glad you did.

Yeah, to start with, I've never seen a stick on wood panel interior that looked "good" or even "fair/ok." They always unrealisticly make panels for things that you know damn well would NEVER be made out of wood. Where that H2 really shines in the fail department is using what appears to be cheap unfinished pine veneer. Plywood.

I tried this when I was 16, it was cool, then I turned 17 and I stopped.
