What kind of finish is on the frame now? Depending on current condition/finish and how much we have ahead of you when you drop off a frame will be a week to a week and a half at the longest.

 

Stock paint, I would remove all parts, so bare frame and fork.

Yes we do blasting! We do not do any welding/metal work unfortunately. Where abouts are you located? We can probably point you in the right direction for a welder.

 

Hi guys. I have a couple questions.

Last fall when I was washing the wheels and tires (when changing over to snows) on my wife's 2013 Ford Escape (19" wheels), one of them slipped out of my hands and fell onto the driveway face first and slightly dinged the finish on a couple of spokes.

Are factory alloys painted and clear-coated or are they powder coated and clear-coated?

Are you able to dead-on match factory wheel colors?

I know you media blast, but in my case the bare wheel might need some very slight sanding/buffing(??) of the aluminum after the finish is removed...can you do this too?

I assume you need the tire and TPMS sensor removed before the wheel is delivered to you, correct?

It depends on the manufacturer on whether or not they're painted or powder coated. A lot of OEM wheels we have worked with need to be chemically stripped down to bare aluminum for the best finish. We can get extremely close to factory colors. We can take care of any damage to the wheel depending on severity, but yours sounds very doable. And yes tires need to be dismounted and sensors removed. Will a powder-coated finish look like a painted finish IF the colors match? Or can a trained eye tell them apart?

I'm still debating trying to fix the "damaged" wheel and matching the other three, or going another direction and get all four powder-coated a different color to stand out from all the other Escapes on the road.

It is probably mentioned earlier in this thread, but can a customer just stop by during regular business hours and look at actual samples of your color selections?
