So I finally removed the head and wouldn't you know it my leak was from a cracked valve and maybe from bent valves (bent valves could have been ruined by me...).

ANYWAYS, I looked at my up-pipe and noticed it had a cat on it. Well I was wondering should I remove it if I want more power? Also what are some quality up-pipes? I will probably research that stuff tonight but just wants to get some opinions.

    Thanks,
    Bnuts

Also, putting a catless uppipe in will not really net you any HP, it will (or should) allow the turbo to spool up a bit faster so you can get into the power a bit sooner. And remember, bigger is not better on the uppipe. Too big of a pipe and it will kill your spoolup.

Swap in a used STI uppipe - they can be had quite cheap. For us LGT guys, the threat was cat converter material coming loose from the uppipe cat and the turbo ingesting it. Not a happy picture.

I was thinking about just getting a upipe that replaces the cat. Then just leave the exhaust. But we will see I change my mind often.

If you can install an up-pipe, you can gut an up pipe. Gut your stock one, take the bits and chunks to the scrap yard and get a few bucks.

The local law enforcement loves it when you sit in your driveway pounding the catalyst materials out of your exhaust pipes with a 3 foot piece of electrical conduit and a 5lb sledge hammer.
