So, I've been working on getting my passenger side cv shaft replaced...first, I was having problems getting a replacement part that survived shipping (baffle plates were dented) now, 3 parts, and 2 weeks later I finally have what I thought was a good part...now that I have the old one out, they look different. The old one has a rim that seals up to the hub. The new one has no rim, but the end looks large enough that it's possible it might be designed to seal to the hub. Here is a pic: Car info: 02 wrx sedan, manufactured 03/01 Part info: Master-Pro Select SB-8014 (according to their website, it should fit, but the hub end is clearly different) Is it the wrong part, or am I missing something? Please help, thanks in advance.
OK so the new axle is missing the dust shield for the ABS tone ring as well as it looks like the CV housing is different as well. If the spline count is the same and the tone ring has the same amount of teeth it should work. IMHO I would just pay the money for the Subaru reman axle. Just hit Erik up from Minnetonka subi I bet he can just ship it to you.
Thanks, I just got done putting it together with that one...if I'd have known what I know now, I'd have spent the extra money on the oem reman...it was 190 plus core at White Bear if I remember correctly, vs 70 for this brand new part...seemed like a good idea at the time.
Doing work under the car this weekend, the new one shows rust already...the oem one (original, mfd 03/01) is still mostly rust free. Next time, it will be oem....
