2003 wrx wagon So last night I decided to take a trip to white castle after work and when I was sitting in the drive through the damn check engine light started flashing. My car has 164k on it so I figured it wouldn't hurt to put new plugs and buy a new ignition coil for #4. Did that real quick and The vehicle is still misfiring ><. Generic OBD does not do misfire recognition but I'm pretty sure I have the right cyinder. First question before I feel like a complete retard is...I read on alldata that cylinder #4 is the back left(perspective of you sitting in the front seat) Is this true? Doing a compression test now(wish me luck)
Quick search will confirm it, but as I recall: Bumper and Headlights 2 - 1 4 - 3 Stuff and People Bumper and Tail Lights You could also run some injector cleaner through the gas tank. When was your fuel filter changed last? Did you buy cheap gas last? And what precisely do you drive? 'Cuz that might help us some. Finally, good luck, eh!
no, its time for new valves, this will be probably the 8th wrx this year that ive seen that needed valves.
Not so sure about the holiday gas thing anymore, Seems like it does it on any gas. but not every one of them suffers this fate...
I said this to the last guy, and I'll say it again. Did you ever have your valve clearance's checked at 105K?
UPDATE!!!! Yay engines out and valve cover is off, waiting for a roomate to come home to counterhold the cam for me while I take the silly plastic cam gear off to get at the head bolts. Wish me luck!
