I got ebay wrap, it's held up fine thus far. Paid 40 bucks shipped for 100' of black.

That seems decent. I got the DEI wrap for I think $29 and another $10 or so for the fancy high temp spray. I used hose clamps instead of metal ties though. The stuff seems to hold up alright. It was fine on my uppipe, but it needs to be re-coated fairly often on the DP. also if your exhuast (dp most likely) rubs on the ground at all this stuff will not last. Mine DP was super frayed.

heres a pic of my down pipe. I have <10,000 miles on it. the wrap was just trashed in the last 3k.

    +1
another place to check for rubbing is on the subframe pinch weld closer to the passenger side if yr planning on wrapping aftermarket headers. A lot of them scrape there.
Some strategically placed clamps and sound deadening did the trick for me (rather than cutting the pinch weld).

Mine is starting to look like that, not that bad, but it's been about 15k on it. I bought it used with wrap on it too, and it had some miles on it before.

My downpipe is only wraped on the shorty part. Is it a necessary to do the rest before I put it on my car or is it ok.

^its fine, the shorty section extends outside the engine bay. Probably better that way so far as wear and tear goes but it's hard to wrap half of a 1-piece downpipe.

Yes, just wrap the shorty dp and that should be fine. Any more, and it'll just get ripped up by stuff off the ground.

As for wrapping, if you can get a second person to help, please do, lol.

Wrapping takes some practice. I took me 2 or 3 times to get really good at it. It is tricky going from the odd shaped bellmouth and right onto a bend. Make sure to get it good and tight though. Mine was holding it self in place w/o clamps.

^ mostly it is when you are going over bumps and the exhaust is the lowest part of the car.

water is the key, if you do the black though, make sure you do it outside, the pigment gets all over everything.
