Well, here's one that I'm really happy to share.

No exaggerating, I thought this car was blue ridge pearl when it came to me. It was so dull and faded that I checked the VIN to make sure it really was MBP. TurrtleDan warned me that it looked like it was washed with steel wool... he wasn't kidding!

Anyway, enjoy the pics and thanks a ton Steve!

You see all these Subarus posted, right ;)

Thanks for the kind words, Steve. I have a few new products this year that I tested on the leggy and the truck (black and white) so I'm kinda excited, in a very nerdy way, to see how they turn out on wrb, dgm, cgm, sgm, ugm, srr, etc...

Thanks! To be completely honest, the picture makes it look a bit better than it is. There's still a very slight knick towards the the front of the scratch that you can see in the right lighting. Bothered the hell out of me but it was down to the primer :( The important part was the owner's wife was happy!

You don't need a certificate for his work. I'd gladley pay for his work. Amazing job.

I had him do the wife's MDX interior. Haven't had the interior detailed since we bought. Interior looked almost new when I picked it up.

Sorry for any slow replies these last few weeks. I've been mostly on my phone and the new conversations alert doesn't always load. That issue is resolved and my response time will be much faster now. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Worked on a civic si this week, thanks for the referral, vangstaboi!

Started off as your typical neglected black paint with lots of swirls:

Amazingly, the swirls were so bad that you couldn't make out most of the rock chips in the paint. It wasn't until it was all polished out that you could see all the little chips:

Overall, I was able to get a mirror shine out of the dull finish.

Unfortunately, some of the damage was just too deep to correct (door handle chip)

Depends on the dent but I can do some. For more complicated dents I recommend seeing a pdr specialist though. As far as rock ships go, you're almost always better off saving for a respray as any chip filler (even with clearcoat over it) will be noticeable in certain lighting and angles.

Depends on how bad the swirling is, but usually a full day. The black civic above took 1 hour to prep the exterior, 4 hours to polish, and 1 hour to seal and wax. The wagon from post 138 took closer to 8 hours to polish iirc.

The problems I run into when detailing nice cars that the owners take really good care of are 1) it's difficult to make a beautiful car look better and 2) I end up wanting to keep it or get one of my own.

Kongzilla's obxt is one of those cars for sure.

The previous detailer clearly used a filler wax and some decent sealant as it took a good amount of effort to strip it clean. Once all the product was off of the car, it was obvious that they didn't do much if any polishing, but just masked over the damage:

that's ok though, gives me a chance to correct the paint and give the paint a deeper quality:

Thanks for the opportunity to work on your car, Kongzilla!

Love the work that was done on the wagon. Its butter smooth and so fresh. Sheen is deff the man for detailing.

The wagon is crazy clean looking right now. It was a little dark outside so shooting at a lower stop on camera with my 10-22 lens didn't help much. Should of swaped lens but I was a little lazy.

Well, today's car was a pleasure to work on. Not only because it's the best built Forester I've seen, but because I was able to basically bring it back from the grave after 8 hours of polishing.

It came to me in really rough shape. No signs of wax on the paint whatsoever, heavy marring and hard water etching, as well as some heavy oxidation in some areas.

Thanks! Hopefully the owner and/or Kongzilla can describe how bad the Forester was before. It almost took as long as Buddyswagon's wrx (post 138) to bring back to life.

I could actually tape them off. It would take a while, but I usually tape off seams anyway.

The Forester was such in a ruff shape that we thought that there was no way a detail would solve the problem. The feel of the car was ruff. There were scuffs, scratches, water stains and imperfections all over the wagon. We were at a point that repainting the car was the only option.

Kevin picked me up when I dropped off my wagon. Sheen was looking over the Forester since it was there already. I sort of laughed it off and said good luck. The look on Sheens face was priceless as he just kindly grinned at us.

Thanks for the inquiry, James. Looking forward to fixing the damage!

Worked on a couple white Subarus this weekend. One was heavily contaminated.

This is what happens when you don't have a good coat of sealant over the paint. Spent almost 5 hours decontaminating the paint. Lots of rail dust and other environmental contaminants,

Also worked on this 550i. The difference in paint quality was staggering. Much more forgiving paint to work with as well. Reminded me of the z4 I used to detail regularly.

All - I wanted to share with everyone my great experience working with idget (Sheen) on detailing and repairing some pretty significant cosmetic damage. My black Saabaru took a significant amount of overspray from a construction worker along University Ave.. I don't know exactly what it was, but he was something related to a worker pressure washing some fresh concrete. The end result was literally the entire driver side of my car was covered in little white specks. It was a BAD situation.

Thankfully after contacting idget a little over a week ago and explaining the situation he thought it sounded like something he could remedy and at the very least he was willing to take a look at it to give me a better sense of how bad the damage really was. I'm happy to report that my car now looks arguably the best it every has since I've owned it. He was able to remove almost all the little white specs (there were literally hundreds). His hard work paid off and I'm very appreciative of finding him through the MN Subaru club. Job well done, thank you again!

    - James

James, thank you for the kind words! I apologize for keeping the car an extra night and hope it wasn't too much of an inconvenience. I'm just glad you didn't have to go get it repainted or worse yet have leave it like it was!

I didn't make time to take enough pics but I did remember to snap a few.

Here's what it looked like after 2 chemical washes:

I had the opportunity to work on Ryjacob's new STI today. What a gorgeous color! It's a shame the dealership delivered it to you the way they did, but I'm happy that it was all fixable!

    Here are some before/afters:

Typical swirl marks from the dealership wipedown:

    all cleaned up:

It's hard to make out in this pic but there were some heavy scratches in the fender from what looks like a polisher cord as well as from poor wipe down technique or a dirty towel. Also, a good amount of hazing and some hard water etching:

    cleaned up nicely though:

Overall the finish was kind of dull and didn't have much depth or clarity to it:

we were able to give it some pop though:

Brought my 2011 Plasma Blue Pearl STi to Sheen on Sunday. When I got my car, you could definitely tell that it sat outside in a dealership lot for a good portion of the last year. The paint was in poor shape for being a brand new car - swirls covered the entire vehicle, but I figured they'd easily be hidden and didn't think much of it. There were some somewhat deeper scuffs on the hood and fenders - I think you can see them in a post above. I wasn't able to do anything to correct it... Sheen to the rescue!

I can't express how thankful I am for the work done. It wasn't as bad as many of the other jobs he has done, but looks just as amazing now as any of his other jobs. It truly looks like it should have the day I took it home. I'll easily recommend him to anyone I can, and I certainly will be back in the future!

I drove the entire way back to EC through a mist from the cities and promptly parked it in my garage. Today was the first time I started it since then. Since the sun was out and there wasn't as much dust covering the car like I figured there would be, I grabbed my GoPro and took a few pictures!
