Dirty Jack-o-Lantern RallyCross, Nov 18, Cannon Falls

i'm in saint paul downtown, so if you guys come down/across on 94 to get to 52 you go within blocks of my place

 

What a great time. O.k. it rained and it was pretty cold but we still had fun. Small bit of carnage when Kevin's 2wd drive ice racer sheared all the wheel studs off a wheel and had to be towed off the course. But replacements were secured in town and they were replaced, in the mud and rain. I'm pleased with how my '93 Legacy performed, 8th overall and 5th in class, with close to 30 entries I think. Zach and Threshld1 both beat me, good job guys. I ended up with a mud covered windshield on my second run and the wipers only smeared it around to ensure I couldn't see. I swore I hit more but only ended up with one hit cone driving blind. There were also a bunch of Saabs and a Mustang that made lots of dust fly, until the rain came. Jim Cox brought his rally truck and he and Brent schooled us on how its done, posting the fastest times of the day. I got to watch the Brent's last run in full and it was amazing to watch a fast truck and a good driver.

I'm really pleased with the skid plate Mike Wray put on my Legacy Saturday. I'm pretty sure we could run over a small bus and not worry about it, until it gets to the unprotected rear diff anyway (I'll have to add some protection back there before hitting the woods).

Thanks to the organizers and everyone that did timing and scoring or babysitting for putting on a fun and safe RallyCross. Thanks also to everyone the helped pick up at the end, by the time I parked after my last run I turned around and just about every cone was picked up.
