Yep. Base of the hill, center of the hill and the middle of the field. Hopefully when I go out there tomorrow night, it will still be that way. After the rains today, I'm skeptical.
yea its been pretty constant rain here in bloomington all day. Not sure how it was further south... but theres lots of standing water around here.
If I find some time to clean out my car of all the clutter and get a helmet I might enter this one. That is.... if it isnt rained out. At the very least I should be there to take some photos.
I'm going down there again tonight to assess the "muck" factor of the field. And I believe Denny (the eventmaster) will be going down there on saturday. I really hope it didn't get as much water as we did in Burnsville. We'll keep you guys up to date as far as what we find out.
I just had a stroke of genius, or maybe a of retardedness cuz it is Friday... With this weekend being halloween and the rally being on Sunday, i would find it quite hilarious to see everyone driving and working the coarse in their costumes assuming it does not interfere with any rules or guidelines of racing safely.
You would need to make sure that anything that you wear will not interfere with your normal field of vision or normal range of motions. So when you're driving, no masks could be worn. And when you're working the field you would need to make sure you can see all around you. Also, you would want to limit the lentgh of the costume as not to trip you up if you need to get out of the way of a moving vehicle. Basically common sense stuff really. As far as the field goes, we have wind and sunshine down here right now. I am really keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get anymore rain. If the field can dry up a bit the next 2 days, it should be really good for us. Stay tuned, we'll have an update tomorrow in the early afternoon. Thanks for everyone's patience with all of this.
Any update on if this is a go/no go. I am trying to plan ahead to know how late I can stay out tomorrow. Remember day-lights savings time everyone.
Just got a call from Denny, the event is cancelled. Standing water on the course, so we can't use it.
Thanks for the update. This will give me a chance to get a helmet before the make up.... me too. I was torn between entering and taking photos since both would be so much fun with all the mud.
BOOOO!!!!!! I vote reschedule for Sunday the 22nd. in Elk River if possible. 2 days of rallycross would be awesome.
FUUUUUDDDDGGGEEE!!!!! i didn't even check here and already paid someone to help me today. second event in a row now. unless we can schedual a quick makeup for this one before the end of the season i won't go to elk river. i second the 2 days of rally x. if we could plan for in CF and keep ER as a back up for one of the days and ER the other day would be awesome.
I too like the idea of two days. However, I doubt it will be at two different sites. If this happens, it will mostly be at Elk River.
I think 2 days would be good as well. I wouldn't be opposed to driving up to Elk River both days. It's been nice having most of them down here on this end of the cities, but it would be nice for the people that always travel down to Cannon Falls from the north end to have a short drive for the next one(s).
I vote for 2 days in a row Cannon Falls. Saturday on 1 half of the field and Sunday on the other. We could stay over at a local hotel and fill it with RallyCross people. Mmmm, Little Oscars bkfst and supper. Amy
Boo, standing water, but yay! I didn't miss it. I couldn't make it to this one due to prior scheduling so happy day for me.
i think playing the cards on CF in the last month to make up the last 2 event might not be a great idea. look what happens
One of my sales guys lives just north up in blain and knows a lot of people with land that might be interested. He already talked to one guy he knows and is interested in hosting just wants to know some of the details. If someone could send me a pm or give me a call 952 454 7862
We used to drive as far as 1-1/2 hours to go to rallycrosses in the past (Arkansaw, WI) for most of the events. My first rallycross I travelled nearly 3 hours to get there (Granite Falls to Dundas). Blaine wouldn't be too bad. Hopefully some of the other ones we are working toward getting getting for next season work out. Then we will have more variety in the course surfaces. Makes for a fun season!!
took a look at the land today on my way back home... there is a HUGE alfalfa field that would be perfect, but he doesn't want people driving on that. The other sections of the field are probably to narrow to really run anything good or the section that do open up are pretty wet and lots of deep muddy dirt with standing water. looks like probably a no go.. will keep my eyes out.
