So I've decided to take this project on and save some money and learn a few things along the way. I guess Im looking on a DIY on specs to build thing. Specs on tq for everything etc. I have a friend thats going to be helping me hes a experienced motor builder for Fords and hes done a few subies but nothing to the extent that we are going to undertake. Im also wondering if I should just assemble everything and then send it to get tuned or if I should do a slight 50-100 mile break in. Thoughts please guys Thanks for your time and feedback. These are all parts and items that I have already. If you think Im missing something please let me know. My car is also running fully functional although i think i might have a slightly cracked ring land, but car is still drivable, so the block I mention above is a totally different block. Goal is to make 400+ awhp daily driver
And I will say it again...make sure Wiseco sent you the correct wrist pin retainer clips. Trust me. I speak from experience. If you have the wrong ones and your block shiats out a wrist pin, Wiseco will tell you to pound sand.
Get the OEM Subaru manual... don't get a chilton, haynes, etc. Subaru sells them online, I think at http://stis.subaru.com/index.html. You can also try Ebay (like this), but be careful it's the manufacturer's (Subaru's) manual, not a third party. With the stis.subaru.com site, the way I remember it they have manuals for basically every Subaru model, and you are buying access for a period of time (probably the 72 hour). You can download manuals for several different models while you have access. The downside is that they used to have a different link for each section of each manual, so downloading can take a while of clicking link after link (if you're trying to get several models worth).
A little google work will find them, or do something like this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-Subaru...010|Model:Impreza&hash=item1c23db0a64&vxp=mtr
Wiseco sent the wrong wrist pin retainer clips. Within 500 miles, one of them popped free sending the wrist pin into the cylinder wall. It cut a nice crease into the wall causing the motor to piss oil. Make sure if the retainer clip channel is square shaped, the retainer clip is made of square wire. If the channel is round, the retaining clip wire should be round as well. If they are mismatched, send them back.
So I've decided I'm gonna have a company build everything for me I don't wanna have to worry about blowing stuff up.
Piddster (or anyone else) - do you have a link where one could get Sub manual downloaded? I have a 2001 Outback.
