We put Bills on last night. The new size and shape of the plasitc is a huge advantage! And, I was able to borrow my father in law's slide-saw so the fabrication was a lot faster and smoother. Now I have a set of 04 Forester templates ready to go. We should have taken a picture of the new ones compared to the Rally Armors. It's funny how different they are. I'll dig the RA's out of the garbage and shoot more pics if I have time.

HA HA HA! It was definately easier to design these with the RA's to use as a template. I only went thru one sheet of plastic for the design and then one for the actual set. Russ, how much different are the mounting locations and wheel liner shapes than the 04?

I am guessing that they are very different. It is a completely different body style/shape, so I am guessing that they are all different. I was going to pick up a set of RA's, but for $140, no thanks. Unless I can get 3-4 other people to go in on a set to use as a template to make cheaper ones....

Shoot me the dimensions of the overall size of the flaps, and I can start working on a template. I am really just looking for the general guidelines that you use for placement and such and once I have that I can start making some templates. I have the time.

The sheets that I have right now (in black) are probably the best that I've gotten yet. They are 25" x 31" x 3/16" thick. The previous flaps that I got from this place had bottom rounded corners and four oval moutning holes for the semi-truck drivers. These are just rectangular, square corner sheets without holes. For Bills I chopped the sheet into four equal pieces 12.5" x 15.5" and worked from there. Of course bigger flaps could be made (2 per sheet rather than 4 per sheet) but the yeild would be worse and the cost would go up.

    eleventy-gabillion.

I've got a pattern for the 09's but I haven't actually made a set yet. I would say ~$60.00. I broke my dremmel tool and will need to get a new one for the 09'ers.

Well sign me up! If you can do it I am down. I was going to wait on the mud flaps but 1/2 price for new ones (vs Rally Armor) I am down! Let me know when, how, why and where you need the money!

You got it! I might have you run out to my place and we can install and fine tune them, if you can. Since I've not made a set for the 09's yet, it might be a good idea. OR, I can make them and do what I can if you can tweak them slightly at your place. The holes sometimes need to be re-drilled or whatever to make sure they are level with the ground.

I think I will try and take pics of how I make them for a DIY thread as well.

not a problem to run out to your place. just let me know when. weekends or weeknights work for me. can't do it Oct 10th, wife's b-day and zombie pub crawl in minneapolis.

i second this question.... i just want to use stainless so it won't rust. My cousin said his hardware was rusty on the 04 when he picked it up. not sure what type of flaps he had.... he had to remove them because they were rusting out the body as well. that is the last thing i want.... but we can always work this out when we get closer to the install.

Bump for Teds monster flaps. Mine need adjusting to make up for the new lowered stance.

Here are couple pics from after install earlier this year.

Any scraping on the way home, Derek?

There are a couple other of you who've I've been PMing with about sets as well. I had ordered the plastic do do all of you but ended up wasting a sheet last night because I didn't test fit my template. I MAY be able to salvage them and make something work, but I have already E-mailed my supplier about more stock...
