I haven't owned a Subie in many years, but I just got an 06 Impreza 2.5i. Seems like this car gets much hotter when parked in the sun than other cars I've had recently. Already having to run the AC for cripes sakes. Is this a common "issue", does Subaru use less tint in their windows than most other OEMs? Have many of you tried aftermarket window tinting to keep interior temps down?

well if you have no tint, then how would you expect the convection oven to work?? its not a freezer or fridge... get some tint.. you would be pleasantly surprised... and with pretty much a black interior... its gonna get hot especially without tint

Keep posts on topic and for Christ's sake, be nice. It's an honest questoin and doesn't warrant any smart ass reply posts.

I had a dark blue Saturn for many years which had a dark upholstry interior and then a WRB WRX with the same dark enterior. Neither car had tint and I don't think I ever noticed that one got hotter than the other, so I don't know.

I have also noticed that even with my silver WRX, seems to get warm pretty quick, it does have a black interior though.

With tint I'm not exactly an expert, but I think it depends on what kind you have also. The kind with the metal layer in it or whatever does much better against the heat from what I'm told. At least thats what the guys at Ziebart here in St. Cloud told me.

Tint is a huge help for that as long as you park with the windshield out of the sun (or use a sun shade).

    Best shops?

Thanks guys! Any suggestions for a good place to get tinted in the NW metro?

The color of your paint has little to do with how hot your interior gets. I went to the black SS interior, and the difference in heat was intense, coming from grey. Get used to it.

As far as hurting anything, I wouldn't worry about it. Automotive grade electronics are made to handle much higher temps than your interior can produce.
