I did a pre register, Ill be going to both days! gonna go in search for a helmet. thought of a motorcycle helmet as well but will check out that hybrid! and since i went with 8" wide rims i spray my car with gravel a lot so im gonna go ahead and get some flaps so I have no regrets when i hit the gravel/dirt/mud/pig farm/baseball diamond/swamp...
I'm all registered with my 93 Legacy. Now I have to find some street tires to get there on. This is going to be a good time!
I could lend (or sell if you need them) my 16" wrx rims with what's gonna be left of my current street rubber after autox test-n-tune event on 22nd.
I hate to say this, but smth came up, and I'm gonna have to back out of both days I was so looking forward to this...
Although I'm highly interested in running in a rallyx event I've never even seen one so will be heading up Saturday to watch...although I'm curious about the school on Sunday as well. Any other spectators going that might be interesting in meeting up?
I'm actually coming from golden valley so we could meet up if you wanted. not sure when i'm leaving yet
anyone have a clue when the class will be over on sunday? I have to be in duluth to work at 5 so i was hoping to catch some if not all of the class
The helmets are avilable at the event. You take one, make your runs, and put it back for the next person.
Check out the contingency money available for this event here: www.scca.com/Rally/Index.asp?IdS=51D920-2DE6300&x=040|080&~= You must be an SCCA full member (not temporary) to qualify for awards.
Normally I would say the Hakkas for Rally-X, but: A) The surface at Corcoran is very smooth, and some of it is clay, which grabs very well with a normal street tire. B) The temperatures are predicted to be ~85, and the Hakkas will be very, very soft and squishy at that temp. The Hakkas won't be a bad choice (Blizzaks would be a terrible choice), but I think I'd run the RE92s. I'll be running Hankook Ventus gravel rally tires (assuming the SE-R is done), but mostly for the sidewall strength, not the traction.
yeah, I wish i had the money for 15" wheels and gravel tires, and rally coilovers, and a fully preped car, and a decent gearbox, and the list goes on...So does anyone have a clue when the sunday school will be over?
Yeah, well, I have a $500 Rally-X car with well-used 14" gravels on it for $80 and other then the header that's going on ($150, the same price as a stock replacement for the rusted-out downpipe) and a $30 cone air filter (to relocate away from splashing water on stage roads, not for the performance), the car is stock and 175K old. Oh, it does also have a mandrel bent 2.5" cat-back. I think that was about $200 with the Magnaflow on it. ~1k total into the car and it's very competitive when I'm driving worth a damn.
haha thats awesome man. I'm to the point now where I don't know where I'm going with my car. I love rallyx and rally but I know that I'm never going to build a rally car out of my wrx. Its just going to be way to expensive. I'm starting to think about getting something cheaper to build a car with but I'm just not sure of the direction I want to go. a 1000 relatively competitive rally car sounds friggin sweet though
Up and at em, boys and girls! Time to put yourself together and get out to Corcoran for the Rally-X. If you are not sure about racing, come out and look at the course and give yourself enough time to still sign up. You'll be glad that you did.
K, snapped off 90 some pics on the last session before the dinner break. I will post up some of them in a bit. I just need to know if anyone knows the guy driving the white evo. Talked to him for a bit and was looking for some pics of his car. I found out that I had alot more good ones than I thought. I will try to get a gallery or something up later. Russ
that's a long drive for a rallyx I'm processing pics right now - took nearly 200 which actually isn't a lot for how long I was there. looks like I have at least 1 pretty nice one of each car though it was nice meeting everyone
Had to work today, sounds like i missed some fun. I will probably be there tomorrow playing in the dirt though.
yeah it was good to meet you carl. could you send me some pics of my car if you took any? my email is [email protected] Thanks!
I got a few good ones of you. I'll send over the high res ones in a bit (might take a couple emails since they're so large)
Thanks! Thank you to all the folks that made this a great event. The course design was awesome and timing & scoring did a great job of keeping us moving . I had a lot of fun today. I look forward to seeing the pictures. See you tomorrow for the RallyX school.
Thanks to everyone who helped out working and setting up the course. it was definatly challenging for me! but its fun as hell!
Russ, Sorry I missed you. I may need a pic or two from you to submit to the SCCA magazine (SportsCar) for a story on the event. Carl, I too would like to see what you have. I will PM my e-mail to you. Thanks to all that showed up! Mark Utecht
Also thanks to Beryl Ann and Bruce from Rally America for setting up a table with information on Ojibwe Forest Rally, bringing us breakfast and lots of drinks to keep us cool all day long. Thanks to Doug Davenport for coming by with a HANS device to show off and for answering questions about his rally prep business.
bloody awsome! had to kick enough dirt out of my 18"s to make it home but drove my dirty car to work today so that I can go hunt for a spot to take a couple more pics. Very great time and the class was an amazing time as well. changed the course for what anyone asked for and just formed a line and went. Great lessons and tips too! Nicely done event and plan on seeing me at another!
Sunday was a blast - thanks to all that put it together! I don't think I'll wash my car for a few weeks, it looks much better now. (Let me know if anyone has pics/video of my RS.)
I'm sure I have pics of it - I just need to know what it looks like  as far as everyone else, I am finally getting around to compiling and editing pics of your cars if requested
How does one pull their two fastest times without first gear...? Haha, thanks again Mark for the encouragement to press on
