Turns out the driver's side was seized worse than the passenger. the caliper pin snapped off in the torque member and even the BFH and a lot of PB Blaster didn't budge it. Ordered a new caliper on my way out the door (only way to get a new torque member), should be in when I get home next week.
after fidling with old brake calipers i have come to the conclusion that new calipers is the way to go.
Lookout M4 - the SleeperWagon has awoken and is coming after you! I swapped a WRX catback on, so it almost sounds like my car is running now.... Anyone got a better set of wheels/tires than stock RE92s that they'd be willing to loan me for a day? Can't Wait!
Yep - I'm in m4 b/c of my lightweight pulley - hopefully we'll get that changed for next year. I missed having Mark put in a rule change for this year. I won't win any money but at least I'll be having fun! Why are the Wagners in M4 now?
I liked it better when the younger of the two Wagners was in PA. Now I might actually have to try.
I didn't forget about the crank pulley. FYI cat removal and changing acessory drive pulleys will be allowed in Prepared in 2009. Mark Utecht
Your car can run 15 inch wheels, right? I could let you use my red wheels, I might try to run my all-seasons at this event if it's dry.
I soooo need to swap my stock intercooler back onto the wagon so I can run in PA for Corcoran. The M4 pool is getting a little deep. Once I have the Leggy back together, really just putting the headlights back on, I'll give the swap a try. Any tips for getting the pesky turbo hose onto the turbo? Amy
question about tech inspection. I have a torn boot on my rear drivers axle, can I compete with this or must I replace the boot/axle prior to the event? I guess it kind of boils down to how strict are they normally?
I'm thinking about coming, since it's not far from my parents' house......I'll have to study the rules/regs to make sure I'll pass.
as long as the car is road worthy it will pass tech. the trick is figuring out what class you will end up in. and unless you are trying to win a class or fight for a season championship that shouldnt really matter all that much.
well, the last time I looked, the exhaust needs to exit the body work. which mine does not.....not even close..... if that's the only thing, than I should be able to fix it.
While I would not recommend running the car that way, I am sure you will be allowed to run if that is the only issue. Mark Utecht
It is currently 2008 and with no cats, your in M4. My point was if you don't want to be in M4 in 2009, don't make any other disqualifying mods as cat removal will be allowed next year in Prepared. Rookies.....sheesh
Taking into consideration the possible cash available from contingency money, for which the Legacy is too old to qualify, potential grins per dollar, for this event anyway, goes hands down to the wagon. In all other events the Legacy still rules :slayer: Amy
Dog Daze Reminders... Please pre-register here: http://mnautosport.com/scca-lol/rally/rallyx/register.php?id=4 You can see who is signed up here: http://mnautosport.com/scca-lol/rally/rallyx/entries.php?id=4 If you are going for any contingencies, you need to register via the SCCA general form and bring the W-9 form and the claim form from each specific company to the event. http://www.scca.com/contingencies.aspx?hub=2&cid=12 Also, make sure you email or call Jenny White at SCCA to get the stickers mailed out to you. Her info is on each of the forms.
Yep, I'll be there. I'm looking forward to running with you guys again - but I'm really bummed that Brent's not running SA this year . Anthony HooSang from Detroit came last year too (and won SA in his Evo RS), but unfortunately he's not running RallyCross any more . Brent Blakely, who won the SA National Championship last year, said that he's thinking about coming, but it is a 1,200 mile drive for him from CA so it may not happen. There's a pretty good core group of guys making the rounds to the National Challenge events on the East coast this year, but I haven't been able to convince any of them to make the trek up to MN. Mark's teasing about having something cool for this event over on the SCCA board. Should be a great time. --Josh
Took the Legacy to see Animal in Elk River yesterday. He and his boys did a great job and now the Leggy *sounds* like a rally car. Should have no more complaints from course workers of sneaking up on them. It's no Mustang, but you will hear me coming. Amy
I wish I could have made it over before you left, but I'll get to hear it Tomorrow!! I see the M4 field got much larger... I see 6, count them six Audis signed up! All in M4 Scratch that, they have 8
Now there are 9 audi's registered! YIPES! Hey Brent, are you agonizing your decision to run in the subaru???
It does sound nice. It sounds like a subaru. You won't sneak up on anyone... Brent says it sounds like one of the open class subarus leavin' a control. But you are right...It cannot compete with the Mustang....Mark scared Noah with that today I would say look out for her, but you don't need to look out...just keep your ears open, you will hear her coming
Still nearly 2 weeks to the event and we have 29 people pre-registered. Looking good. Of course, last year, M2 was a huge class at the divisional here, this year looks like it'll be a lot smaller, but M4, man...
Got home from the UP last night. Rebuilt the passenger-side caliper, got the driver's side ready to go too. Hopefully the car will have brakes again tonight and I can move onto the other things.
On that note, Mark U. was nice enough to help me swap intercoolers back to stock last night so I'm a go for PA. It's odd that we end up doing so much wrenching on my car in hotel parking lots. The Wagners were no doubt lounging in the hotel pool by then. Derek no doubt trying for fastest time on the water slide I'll have a good time watching all the sharks go at it in M4. You're not rid of me in M4 though. I'll be back next event! Hey Brent, what should we do to "help" Joel for this event? Amy
Gravity powered sports don't favor the skinny arsed types  Tell him the course is so hard he needs 50psi in dem dere tires. Or a 60/40 split with 40 in the front, of course
If that's the case, it would appear that I've missed my calling. If only twisty water slides didn't make me woozy. Darn! Amy
ah ha! I knew it. The first few tips were good just to gain my trust, now the truth comes out. I know better, I'm gonna run 40 in the back, not the front! :hsugh:
I actually got a bit woozy on OFPR check out last. It wasn't so much the side to side motion but adding the up down with it. I think it was the whoops just east of McKenzie Lake. Hey now! I may not be fast but I do look good and my paint matches. Amy
Just a reminder that every entrant must have their own FRS radio with fresh batteries for the event. This is considered part of your entry fee. They are very cheap. Sharing a radio is not allowed as we want to be able to contact all entrants at any time. Thanks, Mark Utecht
glad you posted that. had no idea it was a new requirement. i have a radio so it isnt a big deal but i will make sure it is put in the car today.
Where's a good spot to pick up one of those radios? Ratshack? BestBuy? Also, for the couple fargo folks - where's a good place in town to pick up a helmet?
