good. I hope every thing goes great! and thats awsome he suports. keep posting your progress, even though you get crap for it.
ha h haa.. yeah I like to kid around... even when I am being dead set serious about it... it usually has a light hearted approach...
short up date! finally got my new tig welder. picked up a Miller Syncrowave 200 a few days ago and have been playing around with it some. going to work on the headers some more today and maybe try finnish them up. also started taking apart the motor to start sending it out to get stuff done little by little bored to 100mm and porting out the heads.
My wife is wondering if you're single? She said no woman would allow that much car stuff in the house(at one time)
herd the same on nasioc! lol! she is being really cool about it so far. hasent complained about the oil smell yet!
well did a little of everything today. started out tarring down the motor until i ended up rounding out the passenger side exhaust cam bolt. so then i went down and started to weld up my headers. did that for a while until i got board and went back to the tare down. had to drill out that bolt and when i got that out things when smooth. hears some pics of the day: the tools of a master motor builder! lol! husky! ftw!
well finished up the intercooler today! built a new endtanke and welded on the elbo to the compressor housing. hears some pics:
i've see far more worse weld jobs on honda turbo manifolds LOL keep us updated...I want to see how this project works out
ok update pics! got the frame of the box all welded and im going to have to think of a different way to do the front cover with the filter in do to final fitment. other than that it all fits grate and should be one hell of a sleeper (with the cut out closed). hears some pics: oh and yes some of the welds are gobed on there but they are strong as hell!
You've made some awesome progress there man. The welds ain't pretty but if they hold who cares. Can't wait to see this thing run.
understatement of the year, but definitely true about when it runs.. no-one willhave chance to see them as he blows by...
looks awesome. that is one monster turbo. now after you finish this up, you have to make it so that you can run with foglights. be the first person with the front located 40r and fogs it would be uber sleeper
stis dont have fogers and i would have no way of fitting them in there. the fog covers fit perfict and plan on seeing if they make one with a bigger slit in there just for more air. and the welds....... in person they arent that bad....... ok there ugly but yes they are strong as hell and dont leak that is why they are so ugly cuse i keep going back on them and move slow just to make sure they are sealed tight. i can do a pritty good alum weld now. this stuffs all under a bumper so dont care if it looks bad.
Just make sure that you have some kind of silicone connection between the turbo and the ic. I would cut those last little straight pieces back a little bit and put your hose there. The turbo will have a little bit of movement since it is bolted to the header, where the ic is a solid mount. You just want to make sure there is enough wiggle room in there to keep the stress down. Other than that looking pretty damn good. Russ
if you look closely there is a spot for the silicone hose just for that reason. the turbo is actualy fixed in that spot and will be solid so i have it cut tight. i have the flex sections in the headers and in the exhoust for flex between the motor and the turbo. also plan on having soid motor mounts to have less movement.
yah the people that i talked to before i bilt the header had a big concern for thermal expantion and movement. just hope it all works as planed.
