Just ordered a Megan racing DP and that is going to be the first mod I put on my newly acquired 05 Legacy GT. Just wondering if having just a downpipe for a while till i can afford the cat back is going to hurt anything or cause any issues. any help is appreciated

Save yourself some money and wait to put it on till you have the catback. Then you only need one tune.

well, the catback won't change the tune much (if at all). Once you get the DP on, I would get it tuned. On a mostly stock car, a catback isn't going to do much other than add sound, the DP is where you will make most of your power gains.

It would not be recommended that you drive it. Odds are, you'll get it on there, and you'll be compelled to gas it once or twice. That's a bad idea. My suggestion to you would be to at least hold off on installing it till you can get a local to give you a road tune.

Sorry to steal your thread, but if I were to buy a downpipe and install it myself, would it be harmful to drive it across town to get it tuned?

No, you'll be fine. Just remember that WOT isn't tuned for your current setup, and can cause problems or damage. Simply drive it conservatively till the tune. Don't hammer the gas and stay out of boost as much as you can.
