I can pick up an ebay ssac tmic for $75 shipped w/o the y pipe, should I snag this or would it just be a waste on monies? Also can I use the wrx y pipe on the ssac unit?? The ssac is supposed to be a more efficent bar and plate design so I'd think the pressure drop would be lower as well. Thoughts?

I don't know about the pressure drop...

you need a y pipe that will fit that IC, it's too tall for the stocker to fit.

have it pressure tested if possible

make sure the mating surface for the bov is really flat and not warped

worth it for stock turbo? probably not unless you are already pushing modded injectors and a stage 2+ map with higher boost levels

well I am running a bit more agressive stage 2 tune and plan to get a second map from my tuner to bump the td04 to areound 19 psi (curretly running 17 psi)

    You have an STI?

The STI TMIC is a great design, you'll likely lose power switching to that ebay unit. Not that the ebay unit is crap, it just won't cool as well as your STI TMIC with the stock'ish size turbo, period.

You'll need a sti hoodscoop and splitter also to keep the bigger tmic cooler.

Well, then it may be closer to a wash.

FYI, I recently had a user on NASIOC PM me because he was running a version of one of my stage 2 maps and saw an increase in detonation after installing one of these ebay TMIC's.

Personally, I think they're a decent deal for medium sized turbos, but worthless on the stock turbo.

    /my 2cents.

this^ im just gonna run my stock tmic with my vf34 cuz there isn't that much of a gain unless you are gonna go with a bigger turbo such as an 18g or 20g

Jeff - Until you're down in Texas and you want all the cooling you can get on those 110 degree days!!

OP - Too many people I know have gotten huge pressure drops across those cheapo no-name intercoolers.
