Things are definitely slowing down, end of day 3 and it's sitting at $12,100 right now. Over 2k views though, so I'm hoping there are just a lot of lurkers waiting until the last couple days to start bidding. Still have the weekend too, so maybe it'll pick up a bit then.
$12,100 will not be the final price. With that many views, I would expect more bidding battles on the last day.
That is a pretty low estimate Mark, i’m disappointed. Lol I’ve admired this car for many years. I almost stopped yesterday on my way home from WI to tire kick and see if Cole would let me take her for a spin. But alas, my daddy/husband duties called upon me and I humbly stepped back into reality.
I'd expect the same, just hard not to get a little nervous when it starts getting quiet. You're definitely welcome to do that if you want, but your window of opportunity is closing soon.
I figured that you would say that. lol. I was working on my in-laws place near Star Prairie. I figured that if I got done early enough, that I would call you. But hence, I did not. Probably won’t get back over that way until after she is gone
Damn you were close to my neck of the woods, star prairie is only 25ish mins away from Stillwater at most.
Yellow bugeye today with over 200k miles went from about $4500 to $6500 in the final bidding. I would expect a similar flurry at the end of your auction. Whatever it is today doesn't mean anything.
I was actually watching that one too and I would expect the same. Only a few days left so we'll find out soon enough...
Speech to text... probably takes 2 minutes each after spelling, wrong words and grammar correction. Or he uses CHATgpt.
Got to meet @pleiades last night and we swapped seat time in my Miata for his WRX. It's absolutely incredible in person, super well done. Only complaint is it's a bit lower than I'd want. Thanks again, looking forward to watching how it plays out on Monday.
Was on carsandbids for an entirely different reason tonight and saw the comments from @pinjasaur and saw they're currently the high bidder. Not sure if this is just to help drive up the bid price, but I wouldn't be mad to see this stay in the mnsubaru family! Going to be some real drama tomorrow!
Same here. $15k was my goal whether selling on C&B or elsewhere, and while I wouldn't mind getting more for it I'd still be happy with the outcome if nobody else placed any bids and @pinjasaur drove it home.
Haha, what auction you eyeing? I've also been looking at the 240 that ends tomorrow. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/361PazVl/1982-volvo-240-dl-wagon I expect you'll see more bids right at the end. I'm tapping out, though. It'd be a steal at $15k imo.
Wasn't looking for anything at the moment, just checking there and BaT to see approximate costs of various vehicles I'd like to purchase in the future. Don't have the storage capabilities for more that the two vehicles I have currently.
I don't know, down to the final 2 hours now and nobody has placed any more bids yet. You just might get stuck with it at $15k.
I'm pulling for over $20k! Come on! (sidebar, its a terrible day for the stock market, which could indicate a tighter day of bidding unfortunately.)
Welp, if you want to sell it, let me know. We might be able to work something out. I absolutely expected it would go for more, but the economy is no joke. Its going to be a rough couple years coming.
Honestly I'm happy with the results, I was actually watching the last few minutes kind of hoping nobody else would bid so it could stay within the community. I think the price is fair and reasonable for what it is, and it's exactly what I was hoping it would end up going for.
Yep, I did bid on it, in case it went pretty far under what I would call its correct value. With no reserve you never know. I wasn't going to go up to $15, and figured it would go pretty well over that too. It really is a case of timing. $15k is a great price for a 2002 anything really, but there were certainly times over the past 2 years that the market was in such a frenzy this would have surely popped over $20k.
Probably more than a few buyers would try to back out I'm sure lol. All their auctions start and end during business hours Mon-Fri, don't know if it's better that way or not though.
Maybe, but in any case I feel like this is pretty true to what the value should be even if I could've taken advantage of the situation when prices were crazy.
As long as the seller is OK with the price after any fees, I consider that a good deal since the buyer was comfortable with what they bid.
I'm definitely ok with it. I never expected to make a killing on it and really only did the auction because I didn't want the headache of selling a car on Craigslist or FB Marketplace again. If I had done that I'm guessing it would've ended up at roughly the same price but I would've had days/weeks/months of dealing with a lot of less pleasant buyers.
My understanding is it's free for the sellers and the buyers pay a fee? I think 4.5%, which equated to $675.
Yes, they do make you jump through a lot of hoops as a seller so it takes a while to get all the info and photos prepared/submitted, reviewed by C&B, listing written by C&B, back and forth having them correct it, and then waiting for it to be scheduled, but they don't charge anything. Only cost is general vehicle prep and if you hire a photographer. Used to be like a $90 listing fee or something but it is free for sellers now.
Spent some time doing a final cleanup this morning and said my goodbyes to the WRX before @pinjasaur came by to pick it up. Sad to see it go but at least it seems like it's going to a person who will give it a good home. Thanks again Paul, it was a pleasure meeting you and I hope you enjoy it.
@pinjasaur may need to clarify but I believe a late 80's Mercedes 560 AMG? I was definitely admiring it but we were a little preoccupied with the WRX.
I'll ping my friend to confirm specs. It's definitely from the 80s. We realized on the way to WI it wasn't coming up to temp, settling around 120F so even though it has an EFI conversion it was running pretty rich. Got some cardboard courtesy of @pleiades and it was more like 150F on the drive home, lol.
