wow been like a year sense ive been on here and really sense I touched the STI project. pretty much just been buying more and more parts as ive been on the road working. well I got back to the shop this weekend and was happy to see what showed up. My EFR 7670 and install parts I orders were at the door. hopefully now after I get my dads duramax out of the shop this weekend the car will got back on the lift and work will start on it again. Hopefully it will be finished my the time the snow melts but there lots of work to do. motor needed to go back together, fab needs to be done for the turbo, fuel system, brakes, suspension, chassis supports, interior and extrerior, its going to be a busy winter.
Wow...that's a serious snail! Make sure to take some pics of the progress putting it back together with all of the new goodies! Welcome back btw.
will do. ya it will be a lot of work. car is pretty bare right now and will come further apart once I get it back on the lift again. I think once we get the motor reassembled and the up pipe and downpipe fabbed though it wont take to long. everything else is just stuff to take off and bolt new stuff on. yes that is a turbine divider vavle (not to be mistakes with the cheap quick spool valve supra guys use). It is actually designed for diesels and I have used them on duramax and cummins builds in the past with great success. it creates a much smoother flow pattern then the QSW style and instead of usin a small wastegate to control it, it used a large actuator that is easily adjustable and holds exact pressures for opening and closing. from what ive seen most efr 7670 on sti's spool around 3750-4k, im hoping to drop that closer to 3-3250k. my only concern at the moment is fueling. im going to tune for both 91 and E85 being E85 as my standard fuel unless on a trip where it harder to find. 1200cc is the largest side feed injectors I could find and that's what I got. im thinking im going to have to add another pump and a regulator and raise my pressure up to get some more fuel out of them. other thing is im currently setup with a larger top mount because I was originally going to run a bigger stock location and wanted the best spool time but I don't know if its going to be able to flow enough to handle the 7670.
well hey, i have a bunch of fuel stuff for sale if you are looking. if i were you i would do a duel pump (i have one for sale) and get a aftermarket top feed rail and regulator (have that for sale too) and just make brackets to convert your side feed tgv's to use a top feed injector (might still have those around?). that takes care of all your fuel needs and gives you as much room as you need to grow and you have a large selection of injectors to choose from when it comes to top feed. i might have five-o 1600ccs for sale if they ever send mine back from warranty. oh and if you need help making a pipe set for that turbo let me know. i all ways wanted to fit one of those turbos and you are the first locally i have seen with one.
well I think im going to just get it together and see where im at first. my though would be if I need more fuel just to run a bosch 044 pump inline with my DW300 that I have in the tank. that bosch run 300lph at 72.5psi, run that through a regulator to 4 bar and I get 1400cc of flow. IDK just my thought at the moment. let me know what you got though and how much you want for it. I got a lot of money in this build right now and buy the time on done ill be close to 20k in parts alone. as for help with the piping, I shouldn't need any help, I do a lot of fab work and have pretty much every tool to do about anything between my shop and works. I should be exciting to see how it all turns out though. as far as I know im the only guy around here with a efr setup going into a sti. really my end goal is to hit 450whp but I know I could push it further as long as I have enough fuel. the guys at full race said they got 530 out of a E85 sti with the efr 7670 at 22 psi so im pretty hopeful 450 wont be a problem.
well its a year later and still not even close to done but hopefully it will be running this spring. seems every time ive wanted to work on it ive had to fix lot of other stuff but finally I think I may actually get to finish it. looking for a few more parts though sense about half of my parts went on a friends care after it blew a motor. if anyone has anything let me know 272 cams hd valve springs and retainers catback exhaust cobb accresport rest of the stuff I think ill have to rebuy new. thanks guys
haha I just hope I can get it done. wish I had room at my shop in grand forks to work on it. only get time on the weekends to work on it.
