Oh joy here we go. Ill explain this the best I can since I have yet to figure out how to get pics on here. So the intake goes through the MAF then resonator the takes a 90* bend....this 90* bend is my problem. The bypass valve is routed to this bend and, well I noticed the bung, I guess you can call it that where the hose connects to the bend is broke pretty good alll the way around. Someone had put silicone around it and slaped it back together. My question is if I plug the hole and just vent to atmosphere how bad am going to mess with things or am I better off getting a new, or rather used 90*bend.As I understand it the MAF is making calculations based on the exact amount of air it flows. So by releasing some of this air into the atmosphere you would be rich? Im trying to rap my head around this if someone could shed some light on the subject. Better off getting another bend or plug bypass valve bung in bend.... There you have it, lend me some knowledge on the subject.
http://mnsubaru.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7454&d=1195833660 I have one somewhere, but deride is closer, i'm in saint paul.
Deride's is the place to shop for all your SS needs. I have the same part too, but I don't get rid of things haha
Just as I figured. Secondly whoever did the sloppy mod with the silicon got it in the intake so if by chance some of it let loose and went into the turbo itself....I dont even want to think about that right now. Turbo seems to be working. Now these turbos, not sure if its the 10 or 11, is it vr or vf I cant remember of the top of my head, but how long before I rebuild it. Cars got 187K and has detailed records up to about 71k after that its a crap shoot.
In the mean time, if you need to get it running, vent to atmo is fine--you'll just run rich between shifts. If you set the BOV correctly you'll be fine.
I have a TO4E thats been staring at me for too long. Would love to put it to good use. How would this compare to the td04? tdo4 is internal wastegate? TO4e is external.
A T04E is A LOT more turbo than a VF11. Running one without larger injectors, an intercooler, and some form of management would be pointless. A custom pipe set would also have to be made.
You don't NEED the one with the 90, you can buy a silicone 90 bend and clamp it on there like grayguy and I did with ours.
Well, trace the hose to its source. Pretty simple. It either goes to the valve on your intake or to the little black plastic valve. I'm not there to hold your hand.
You know just the other day I was saying how amazed I was with the people here on mnsubaru. Everyone has been nothing but helpful as this is not only my first subaru but also my first turbo vehicle. I come here seeking knowledge from people who have been there and done that. I replyed as I did because I DID TRACE IT and consulted my manual and it says it is the bypass valve. So correct me if I am wrong here in my understanding of exactly whats going on, but as an adult please keep the attitude to yourself.
Sorry, I was in a piss poor mood last night and probably shouldn't have been online. Bad form on my part.
No worries, I was just confused because I did look it over and then I get conflicting results here so I wanted to make sure I had the right info. Manuals can be wrong from time to time.
After looking at it closer, my frame of reference was backwards. That most definitely looks like the BPV hose. Gluing it is going to be tough with old, oil soaked plastic. I'd tryto find a replacement. Have you been to bbs.legacycentral.org?
