Hey guys, need a little help....

    04 STi - AP Stg2
    ~78k mi
    New air filter
    New plugs @ 60k
    92 BP gas

At idle, I have noticed that the car is stumbling and/or hesitating much more than it used too. I suspect it is something in the maintainence category that needs to be addressed, any suggestions? Let's start simple and if I am unable to correct, I will dig in as necessary.

Thanks in advance for any input!

My second guess would be dirty maf, get some MAF sensor cleaner and go to town with it.

I would pull a plug and take a look. Maybe even throw a scan tool on to see if anything looks weird.

How is the milage?? Any drops?? Pulls ok otherwise?? Fuel filter replaced at all??

I can pull a plug...probably worth the effort. Mileage is a tough cookie to nail down right now as the car is not driven as often as it was (wifes FX is the DD now that we work in the same building). However, last I checked, it was not 'broken' (within reason for a car driven like it is). I got ~26mpg on a trip to Vermillion a couple of months ago, but this appears more recent.

As for general strength, it has felt weak, but I have written that off to the butt-dyno calibration as I cannot specifically quatify why I feel it is weak.

Fuel filter has not been replaced in about 30k...is it liekly it is in need of replacement? Pain in the ass, but will do it if it is a likely culprit (and I suspect it would be).

    Thanks!

Well, if you can get on with a scan tool, you can check your fuel trims to see if they are out of whack. That can point ya in a couple of different directions.

I agree, check for a vac leak... seems like the most likely problem.

I has scan tool, I will bring to Lacrosse if anyone needs a scan.

IF you don't know how to read plugs, pull them one at a time, snap a digital pic and post. It's a long lost art, but some of us can still read them :D
