Shhhh, they may hear you... It’s only a matter of time, and they’ll be back home where they belong!(my plates that is)
^ unless someone beats you to it and you lose the plate. That's what we are most worried about (but it's highly unlikely in our case)
The 28th of this month will mark 9 mothertrucking months that I've been waiting for my title. TICK TOCK YOU DINGUSES
That's just absurd. There's no excuse for that. Not exactly comparable, but I registered a canoe I recently picked up on Craigslist. I was pleasantly surprised to get the registration in the mail 3 days after I registered it online.
That's incredibly asinine. Now that my car is paid off, I'm wondering if I should even bother getting the title updated or just sit on it for a while.
Bummer about your seats. I've never seen anything like that before. I agree about the taillights and I cut mine open and painted them. Turned out better than expected. I spent 2 days on it to give enough dry time so you'd have to pick a weekend when you don't need to drive it. I can post a couple pictures tonight of the process. I'd say you summed up the pros and cons pretty well except I like low and am running even lower with coilovers.
I like low too! But my old bones don’t as much. Hahaha Edit: another con... What the hell FHI, Subaru, etc!? I cannot believe that the pillar less windows still scratch the hell out of the glass. How, after at least 18-20 years, have you not remedied this issue yet!? SMH
Mine is starting to show signs of that too. Thinking I should get the windows tinted now so it will at least scratch the tint instead of the glass. By the time I sold my 99 it had pretty deep scratches.
I think I've told this story before but screw it. Mndot failed to remove my old car from the system a year and a half ago when I traded it for the sti. I found out when they told me I had to renew my tabs, not knowing they had the old car in there still. The recipt showed the wrong vin so I asked them to cancel the transaction but they couldn't. Got a refund form and filed it. It took mndot 6 months to send me a letter saying they didn't have the proof of sale anywhere and i needed to fax a copy. That was April and I still haven't heard back...
I totally agree with your sentiments! Probably why this is the "subaru" that I have owned the longest. To your pro #4...another hidden trick: you can set the RPM for when the shift light and beep happens. You have to be stopped, but you can change the RPM. I usually set it for 7k RPM's, because by the time I see the light and shift, its at the redline at 7.4k RPM's. The annoying thing is that it resets every time you disconnect the battery. Con #1 - shoulda bought the Scion! That wasn't the main reason, but it was one of the many reasons why I picked the Scion. It comes with an amplified Pioneer stereo and speakers. The speakers are great, but it still rattles like a Subaru. Sooo upgrade your stereo, then have fun chasing all the rattles. I gave up on that. Con #4 - I saw your pics - that sucks! And that definitely shouldn't be happening. You might be able to get that covered under warranty. Next - you need to get that thing out on the track. That is where it really comes alive!
I have the stereo stuff, just need to get together with Sheenis for the install. I’m used to rattles. I’ve owned two GD’s over the past 14 years! Same with the windows. It happened on both bugeyes, the Outback, and now the BRZ. Seems to me that it should be happening? Lmf’nao! I need better tires before i try any DCTC seat time! All seasons with 4/32 are less than ideal...unless i’m drifting. The i say “burn em up!” I’ll try the “RPM set” thing, thanks! How you do dis?
He doesn't make it clear in the video, but you have to push and hold the Disp button to cycle through the numbers. There is also a hidden shift indicator and current gear indicator. It's defaulted to "on" in the 15+ (or 16+?), but you have to enable it in the older ones. He covers that in the video too.
I need to reactivate my current gear indicator. I had done it at one point but after disconnecting the battery one winter I lost it.
Another thing that will blow your mind if you haven't found it yet...there is another 12v power outlet hiding in the glove box. You can also conveniently use the outlet plug to plug the sound generator tube in the footwell if you so choose.
Found this interesting! I said once, possibly in this thread, that the BRZ feels as quick as my stock bugeye WRX was when I got it. Based on this, there is only about a 13hp/ton difference! Based on power to weight obviously.
One year of ownership! So i made it one year with the BRZ so far. In that time i have repaired some cosmetic stuff, made some new cosmetic problems that will need fixing, and put on about 12,000 miles. I also drove it through questionably one of the snowiest winters. Pros: 1)This car loves to be driven! It is weird to drive it so far into the power so often. I mean, with a 300hp WRX i was probably driving at 80-100% of its power band like 5-10% of the time. As where with the BRZ and it’s little boy undies, i use it’s “max power” probably more like 60-80% of the time. 2)When you drive it like a boring grown up it gets 30-32 mpg. 3)it still looks amazing to me. I love the body lines. 4)everything about the interior is perfect as well, with exception to the cup holder and it’s requirement for being an arm contortionist to grab your coffee. 5)gets through the snow really well with good snow tires. I am amazed at how well the traction control works with the slick stuff and the rear wheel drive. It can really keep you from getting into trouble! Cons: 1)it still would be alot more exciting with another 50-80 hp. Whatevs. 2)needs a rear window wiper. Pretty sure that i said this before. But come on Subaru. Japan got rear wipers on almost all of the imprezas. You could throw one on here for us! 3)it is too low for winter driving. If you see a one inch chunk of ice/slush on the road...you will bottom out on it unless you swerve! Lol 4)a few minor Subaru squeeks and rattles...it is what it is. Overall i’ve loved owning it! But i will be looking for a winter beater before next winter, hahaha! Any who’s...carry on
