I have an 05 STi and there is a rattle that I'm pretty sure that is my exhaust heat shield. I had my friend rev it up while I looked at it but i saw no rattle. Does anybody know what this could be? And it rattles when shifting up and down at 2000 rpms, about 2150 to be exact lol. Please help

Take the suspect heat shield off and see if it still rattles. I wouldn't expect to be able to see the rattle.

Subarus and heat shield rattles go hand in hand. Both of mine had heat shield rattles, two more in my extended family have heat shield rattles. Always worse at a certain RPM resonance frequency.

I took both of mine off because they were annoying as all hell...Particularly when rolling up to a stop.

I have the same problem. Worst between 1st and 2nd gear. I had a feeling it was the heat shield too. I'm obviously no too mechanical. I know what they look like off the car, but when I got under my car last night I couldn't see/find what I thought I was looking for. Could someone point out where I might look and how easy it might be to remove myself? Thanks...

I had this issue with my new DP to catback SPT. I just bent the heat shield by the midpipe and it was all fixed.

I'm going to second the Up-Pipe to turbo heat shield. They aren't welded all the way around the pipe, and they like to rust and break free. The front collector shields barely ever rattle, unless yours have pretty much rusted off.
